old one off and new one on after fiddling with the gaitor for ages. But how do you tighten the bronze securing ring ???

Is this the "use once" clip you're talking about?

If so I've use a pair of side cutters or pincer type pliers to do it.

but to be fair the best way is to get it where you want it and use a set from the underside and one from above

from the underside use bent nose ones if you have some, as its hard to maneuvre normal long nose pliers around there

if you can't get that get a small jubilee clip on to it and make sure it tight!

be careful with jubilee, i thought about this but the part of the jubilee you screw is quite bulky to have under the gator given the size you'll need for the diameter of the neck incl gator
