When cleaning the car today i noticed some flaked paint on my front arches, seems this happens to a few peeps. I guess it's a respray jobby, but what are people's methods of stopping it happening again?

Also I have some bubbling under the paint on the roof gutters, i assume this is prime corrosion warranty

I would touch in the arches with a touch up stick, fairly standard wear. I have used one of the hammerite kits, you scrape the rust off clean it up and put some gel that "kills" the rust on. After that theres a primer with the kit. After that use a touch up stick from the dealer. Only mud flaps would stop that but I would rather have a bit of rust than horrible mud flaps!!

I don't know anything about the corrosion warranty but its always worth a try, worst they can do is say no!

My car ain't flaking yet but noticed some tar stuck to my paintwork from the bad weather season. Water doesn't get it off. But that's caused a rust mark. Do you keep up with polishing yours?

Went SEAT today, they sent me the body shop

They then used a paint gauge and got these readings

Oh noes, original paint!

They then tried the full service history routine which all but 2 are SEAT.

Then they said I need to contact original dealership to get them to update the history online, called them and they had job idea What the paint shop were on about.

Have since called seat UK and they are handling the claim for me now and see no reason why it shouldn't be covered... Hopefully it's just this easy...!

I think the body is covered with a 10 (?) year paint and corrosion warranty. Mine is 10 in June and you know that on the 7/6 (the day after my cars 10th birthday) rust will spring up EVERYWHERE.

12 years. It blatantly qualifies for the roof at least, they just seen to make things difficult in an attempt to make you give up.

Interesting to hear about the paint warranty, good luck getting it sorted out. I have a boiled bit of rust on the rear drivers side door just under the window, was going to see what they said about that but thought it would be less hassle to just buy a 2nd hand door, the colour match would probably be better! I'll maybe see what they say about it anyway.

Body shop called back and said SEAT refused the claim as 2 of the stamps in the full service history weren't a SEAT dealership.....

Why are they delaying the inevitable?!

Just about to speak to the nice lady at the customer helpline again to see who I need to start hassling now!

Think I'll avoid giving seat anymore money unless I have no choice

I can never understand why that area directly behind the front wheels was left just painted. The paint was always going to get chipped up. A prime spot for corrosion to start. Poor if you ask me.

Matt.

Yea when get that sorted I'm gonna pop a lick of tigerseal on it to absorb damage.

The claim I'm making however is for the roof.

Spoke to the helpline again and she is contacting listers for them to verify the refusal and to produce the paperwork that states I need full seat history Which according to her doesn't exist...

Fun fun.

Thats pathetic about the service history!

Just another con to get people to go for main dealer services

The arches need mudflaps imo! Mines is peppered

Righty, update....

Spoke to helpline lady again today and she has told me that SEAT say it's not paint perforation it's surface corrosion and that's not covered by the warranty and to repair as good will SEAT require full service history as a loyalty thing.

Utter bullocks. Have asked for written confirmation of this and what the difference i between perforation and surface corrosion as the description online is the same thing! The paint is unbroken and bubbling which means it's internal.

Once i get their letter I'll pop citizens advise with a view to small claim court if needs be!
