Remap is always better, tuning box is for convience for cars still in warranty, removed any time, or use on another car. It doesnt produce the maximum potential but it still does the job.

DTUK does the CRD technology tunung box. Its not a resistor in a box but consist of different maps, same as an ecu remap. These are generic map loaded in the chip and can be chsnged based on driver preferences.

Please read link.

So its not just a resistor, its a variable resistor and it has a microprocessor, and its 'map' consists of an RPM Vs Load table, and it then varies the resistance to various sensors depending on its 'RPM vs. load' lookup. And the switchable maps are simply a change in the values in said table.

So you have 1 table/map to fool a multitude of sensors. Would anybody like to guess how many tables/maps the ECU actually uses to calculate how much fuel and boost is required? (i'll give you a clue - it's a lot more than 1 ;))

Not even close to a substitue of a properly calibrated remap

And no wonder you guys with your tuning boes all get great MPG when you're injecting a lot more fuel than the ecu thinks you are
