flashing eml on dash

Just wondering if anybody else has this problem and how it can be solved.

EML light has been on for a while, no change in performance etc so it was left, anyway car started to run like crap a cpl of days ago so I repaaced a coil pack on number 4 cylinder after checking them all and found 4 to be the culprit and the old coil was duly binned and replaced. EML light instead of on all the time is now flashing all the time but the car and fluids etc sound and look fine.

Any ideas?

the car is a 1.6 leon s on an 02 plate.

Maybe removing battery to reset the ecu?

You need to get it on vag com to see what codes you have, anything else is pure guess work.

I took the batt off last night, left it for a gd 10 hrs hoping it would do the trick, nout! i was quoted 35 quid just to get the test done. Just don't wanna screw the car up as it cud be a number of things, minor or major, as i live in warrington and work in chester.
