Hi,

Just had my second occurrence of the above issue, both occurred in "extreme" weather. Spotted this thread - audi-sport.net/xf/threads/guide-esp-light-on-glow-plug-engine-light-flashing-cause-fix-inside.143060 - and wondered if I am alone on this issue with an Exeo? A quick forum search didn't throw any results up.

Just had a quick look at the surrounding area and it is full of leaf matter and water, so I will attempt to apply the solution, as I also have a slight damp area above the pedals as described. I know the car had a windscreen fitted previously, so may of had something disturbed, but works car park is quite leafy.

I'll report back, and hope the link helps any fellow sufferers.

Yeah that sounds like classic plenum chamber blockage causing ECU flooding and overflow into the footwells.

As you say a clean out of all the bio material will allow the drains to once again do their job.

I fitted a full tray and battery cover to help avoid this issue. Where I work is in the middle of a forest and my car has in recent times been completely covered in leaves of all types. As the trees are now bare, I opened it up last weekend in order to check, and it was all clean and dry.

Long may it continue!

Yep I had same problem, 1" of water under the battery. I read on one of the audi forums that you have to remove the battery to clear said blockage. If you reach down to the left of the battery in the engine bay you should feel the run outlet, I shoved me fingers into it to clear the crap & the water emptied... but you do get a very wet arm . Not had a problem since but on the look out for a full cover as Sausage has done.

I've got a spare battery cover going begging. This can be used without the full tray and does stop snow and sleet sitting across the battery terminals.

Collection only, Manchester. PM me of you want it.

Free of course, in the spirit of Christmas :)

Sorry for the slow follow up, but after the awful weather, the fix has worked.

I stripped everything down, and unblocked the holes as described, many many liters of water drained out!

The seals I re-seated in the housings with some additional silicon sealant, and the flat interface with the body was smeared in a good thick coat of Vaseline.

Bone dry inside and no leaks detected, also with no leaves in the drain holes I don't get a swilling sound on the first bend of the day anymore.

Notes about the guide:

Getting the ecu cover out was a bitch. The cables could not be removed either, as held in place with security bolts, but there is enough wiggle room.
Took 3 hrs, including cleanup.
Skin loss rating (1-10) 4.
