Has anyone converted they're toledo with the regular key to operate on a VW style flip key? If so how have you done it? Is there a kit availabe or do you just buy a new key?

Cool. It should work then. If I remember correctly, theres a few different keys available. The only problem is, you've got to get one whcih works with your car. I think there was one type for 98-early 2001 cars (which I have(, and one for cars 2001 onwards.

What does it say on the side of your regular key?

Also, do you have a working spare?

The key is HAA (same as my old bora was) and the fob itsself has 433MHz 5FA 007680.

I do have a working spare but its just a normal key (no remote locking)

That's good. Yours has exactly the same key as mine did.

What you need to do is buy a flip key off ebay, ideally one with a blank blade. Just watch out whcih one you are buying. You need the one with part number 1J0 959 753 N. Don't buy one with number 1J0 959 753 CT - It won't work with your car. I should know, I bought one and couldn't get it to work.

What you need to do is split open your spare key and take out the transponder. It's a tiny glass capsule inside. It's glued in and is a b*tch to get out, just take your time. Then you need to put it inside your flip key, get the blade cut (not easy), and program it to your car (dead easy).

Hope this helps. :D

Ive had flip keys before and ive found myself in uni just flicking it in my pocket.
Was looking through your posts there and was wondering what the wheels look like that are on your car.

Those look really well! You done anything else to your car lately?

Not really. A couple of mods, but nothing major.

A couple of months ago, my mum was driving it (Her cavalier was dead), and managed to put a 6 inch dent in the door sill. How, I have no idea. Apparently she didn't even know she had done it.. Anyway, I may be getting some side skirts at some point, was gonna get some anyway, the caved in sill is another reason to. :D

I'll keep you posted.
