For a while now i have been deciding weather to get a fmic or not, so today i went to a custom code dealer to ask a few questions, and the bloke told me it may not be such a good idea, he said he has done it before and found the intake temp was higher with the fmic fitted.

Any suggestions?

Can't see it some how other wise why would a FMIC be recommended for higher stage remaps?? Think he was talking out of his bottom a bit....:)

Thats what im thinking, he said he done the same on a s3 and found it didnt run aswell, and also had higher intake tepm on the dyno and lost on on some bhp, im unsure what to do now, he also said the standard setup with the 2 intercoolers on the work fine

If you are looking at a FMIC , it may be best going for the Forge one
Not the cheapest , but then buy cheep , buy twice
The Forge one comes with larger core and larger pipe diameters to extract the best efficiancy
In turn this will lower the intake temps and in turn give more performance and increase engine life

he saw higher intake temps with an FMIC fitted.......right ok....

anyway

Forge is the way to go as mentioned, or Pro Alloy, or PA tend to be a bit more geared to bigger turbo's etc

not sure of tuning shops in the wes midlands though....how far is awesome GTI from you? sorry anywhere past Watford is north to me :)

If you've got any mechanical knowledge you can easily fit this yourself.
there is a very good guide supplied with this. This should take you no more than 3 hours with a mates help and theres no need for an extensive tool box.

when I fitted my PA FMIC on my standard k03s, I noticed an instant improvement. pulled harder

one of the best mods for these cars (along with ARB's)

Mine was the same, I fitted a forge fmic to my leon cupra and the car does drive far better and pulls harder....my car is not remapped yet.

did you notice it to be ever so more laggy...due to the pressure drop caused via the FMIC (on standard boost?)

You wont go wrong with forge or pro alloy,id stay away from the cheap rubbish you can buy from some places. With a good front mount you will see a good drop in inlet temps over the side mounts, even more so with a remap and on a hot day.

I thought I would find this but I logged before and after and gained 0.15 BAR boost, I'm looking into the Forge MAP sensor replacement pipe which should help with this also.

If you are getting a FMIC, if you don't already have an uprated Turbo Intake Pipe (TIP) it would be a good idea, if you could stretch to the whole hose set even better:)

Not really, the whole power band is shifted by about 400rpm but this could be due to other mods, exhaust, dp, cat, tip and filter.

I had the tip fitted before the fmic and it alone made a good difference.

do you think. I did have an exhaust and air filter on it before the FMIC....and it definitely felt ever so slightly laggier after the FMIC was fitted:blink:

I can't say I've noticed any more lag after the fmic was fitted, if there was some it was worth it due to the extra torque, the car does pull better since the fmic was fitted. Not much lag with a k03s anyway :)

Speak to Peter at Forge ,he might do you a good deal.I picked mine up in person from them .Where about in the West Mids are you? Less than an hour drive for me in Kidderminster.Easy diy job too

Shouldn't be noticeably laggier - unless you are super sensitive to these things.

Boost leak?

I spoke to Peter, I think....., and got a very very good price for a Forge FMIC. Promised not to publish price but well worth a chat....:D
