Fob won't sync; vcds fault code alarm horn

Hi all, got this really annoying thing where I cannot sync any fob to my car for the central locking. I've tried all the guides I've found on internet and just cannot get it to work. Everytime I open the doors or boot the indicators flash as if the alarm is going off but obviously no sound.

I then bought the vcds lite and a lead and plugged it in and it come up with the fault code alarm horn. So I take it my horn has probably been disconnected but would this cause the fob to not sync to the car?

Just after some advice please as I'm getting tired of using the key everytime and the doors have been painted so I don't want to be getting key scratches on the door like there was before.

this may be of limited help but here goes- on Skoda OCTY there is a an alarm with a built in battery (recharge type) which they recommend be TOTALLY replaced every 5 years you don't give any details of your model but it may be worth exploring ---IF -- there's one on my @03 Ibiza it's still working must take a look p.s octy's is under the front wing drivers side

Right update on this since I cleared the codes last week. Plugged it back in today and it's come up with a different one now.
