im thinking about changing my breather pipes under the inlet manifold for the forge ones. my question is how easy is it to change these, they look tucked away. Would it be better to take the inlet manifold off so you have more space, if so how easy is it to do? is it a matter off just unscrewing all the bolts and lifting the manifold out the way? never done this before so any help would be appricated.

cheers :)

Yeah it is a bit of a pain getting to them, but no need to remove the manifold.

You just want to undo the 2No. bolts and the pcv tray (pipes underneath) just watch the dipstick as if this is the original one it may be very brittle.

Unhook it and be gentle when moving the pcv tray out the way, remove the offending hoses and replace with the forge ones.

It made such a difference to mine, boost leak fixed.

noticed to day i have oil that has appeared down the front of the engine so i think when i get round to changing these hoses i willtake the inlet manifold off so i can clean it up. could some one tell me the way in taking the manifold off is just amatter of undoing the bolts and swinging it out the way? also i may change the injector seals, how do the injectors come out?

any help would be apprciated.

I changed mine for the forge ones. It's best to get a new plastic y piece that they connect to as if it's old it will be clogged up. I didn't take the manifold off as was too much hassle. I managed to wiggle the y piece and pipes out then made the forge one with the new y piece. I then compared the two side by side so that I was sure I had the pipe angles correct. I then wiggled it into place under manifold. As the same time I also replaced the thicker t piece at the bottom of that area that the pipes connect to. This will need a new O ring if replacing aswell.

hi mate dont suppose you have the parts numbers for all the bits you have mentioned? taking the manifold off does look hassle too

cheers

I haven't I'm afraid mate as I did it early last year. I got the forge hoses from forge and the y piece from audi as the Lcr engine is the same as the TT. Is it a Leon you have? I think I got the new t piece and oring from Audi also. When I went into Audi I got them to print off a diagram of the pipes area and pointed to what I needed. Some one may have a diagram on here that they could send you if lucky. The only other thing I can say is prepare for scraped knuckles lol there is a guide on here somewhere aswell which is what I used and explains it well.

This is a y piece

As said before I bought from Audi so don't know if this one is suitable but looks identical. It's also worth reading through this thread. It's about pct simplication but has useful info. (edit. I left the link out as it talks about removing part of the system which confused me)

The below pic shows the t piece ( ignore the writing on pic) this t piece is rubber coated. On this pic the y piece is labelled as suction jet pump.

On the forge pic- bottom right I replaced hoses around y pump with forge ones. The one that hooks around like a coat hanger I didn't replace, just used original. ( I did later replace as has vac leak from the rubber 's' hose to the far left of the pic.)

Only other tips I have are to remove metal plate at front of manifold as it lets light in and helps to undo/remove pipes. BR careful though as it is clipped to the oil stick holder. Regarding the oil stick holder be careful as if it's the original it will be brittle. I have been looking for the guide I used for the last 15 mins bu cannot find it unfortunately . Sorry bud.
