Wonder how much difference there is between this twintake sytem (Cupra) and the one for the Mk5 ED30?

Performance wise : next to none

Design wise: When ITG built their kit there was a significant difference in the available space in the frontal area of the car for mounting / filter head size. The S3 had feck all space due to its curved light profile and adaptive bi-xenons, whereas the Golf and the Leon had significantly more space in the bay area. Steve was quite suprised quite how much difference there was between the cars in this area, and as such made the kits / foam packs to suit.

Hard to say without seeing them side by side.

Yes design wise how does the MK5 system differ from the Cupra? Guess they are different if they have different part numbers.

my cupra has bi-xenons... does this mean this kit will not fit?
 
No Worries, the twintake system wil fit on a Leon with bi xenon (at least in mine it fits perfect).

The heatshield that shows up on the forge pictures however doesn't come with the kit (I think I will make one myself since the Maf gets fried at the moment, bit of a shame that given the price of the kit it doesn't supply one)

Furthermore I fitted a cold air duct behind the fog light and connected the Forge airbox wit a 50 mm hose direct to the duct, this clearly supplies more cold air (especially at higher speed)
 
how did you attach the side inlet scoop? the only instructions on the web are for the S3 and Mk5 gold which use the radiator supports. The scoop I have has one hole for a bolt, but there don't appear to be any already fitted on the car I can use...
 
Just fitted it. I used and upturned bolt attached thru the hole, then used a nut on top of that to attach the inlet.

Just been for a run in it. Doesn't seem as rapid somehow. Maybe it is the hot ambient temperatures...

how so?

the temperatures under the bonnet are high... the filter housings are hot to the touch... wonder if fitting an engine cover would prevent the engine getting so hot...

Just removing my bluefin then re-programming it in, to see if the reset of the software will let the ECU learn the new air flow

An early observation is the fact the car performs better at slower speeds. Pulling away and driving around town is more effortless, with the ITG on its always felt asthmatic at slower speeds and the turbo seems to have trouble spooling from gentle acceleration.

The ITG came into its own when floored, but this afternoon the Forge was no less capable and power delivery felt less laboured at least through the mid-range. But as I say I'll not pass final judgement until I've run with it a bit longer and let the ECU re-adapt.

How did you mount the side inlet scoop?

Why the change to the Forge unit Z ?. Iv,e had mine on for 3 months now and think its a good piece of kit that compliments my set up.

Will be interested to know your thoughts on this one though. I just changed to an EVOMS last week.

To be honest I've not really got on with the ITG, though it performs very well for performance I've not enjoyed the warbling turbo, and the spool up always felt irregular to me. I have even considered scrapping the intake route completely and going back to the stock airbox.

Forge have given me the opportunity to try out their product, so far I'm impressed its still got a great induction noise but the car spools better and doesn't warble. The under bonnet look is tidier too with less messy maintenance involved. Filter oil gets everywhere. Not knocking the ITG because its a sound intake in that it delivers good performance. It just had some flaws I've had difficulty living with myself..personal preference I guess.

That would be 3 the Carbonio doesn't count its not a proper intake in the sense of the others. ;)

3rd times a charm.... [B)] otherwise its going back to stock.
