Hi

I need to remove the lower center grille on my altea fr but can't seem to see any screws or any way of removing it, I posted on the altea section but have had no reply as of yet, but someone said that the bumper is the same on the altea and leon so should be the same way to remove the grille.

Any help would be greatfully received.

Thanks
Andrew

thanks bedlam, but the grille i'm talking about is the one in the bumber (honeycombe) in between the fog lights.

Thanks
Andrew

OK, had a look at something else and as far as I can see it is bumper off I am afraid, then undo a couple of screws, release 2 side clips and 8 upper clips

I removed the one on my Leon Fr to get the centre painted black. it is only clipped in but very tight. i broke mine removing it because its so tight. My advice would be take the foglamp trims out couple of screws by memory then warm up the grill with a hairdryer or something to soften it then try and unclip it with a screwdriver working through the honeycombe. Hope this helps.

I realise this is a slightly old thread, but I was searching the forum this morning looking for an answer to this myself as Seat wanted £65 to take this grille off for me. I figured I could probably get it off myself relatively easily.

Kev is right, you'll need to take off the two lower side grilles (where the fog lights are) 1 screw holding each side in. The clips holding the lower center grille are SOLID! You really need to get your hand in behind the grill to manoeuvre the clips. The secret is to try to expand the body coloured part of the bumper which is holding the clip in rather than try to push the black plastic bit out.

To get my hand in behind the lower grille I ended up having to take my main grille out as well (I had already done this previously and knew the knack to getting it out)

Thankfully I managed it all without breaking anything (small cut on thumb though!)

honz12, can I please ask, is there an easy technique to removing that lower central front grill ?
I'm trying to remove mine, but it is fitted so tight, I cant see how to pull it out.

Would a thin screwdriver help, to release the clips you talk about?

I've even considered cutting the plastic mesh to effectively break this grill into a number of sections, which might make it easier to extract! I plan to fit a brand new one anyway !

........I apologise for bringing back an old Thread!

Not really an easy technique to it I'm afraid, but once you get one undone you'll find the rest easier. Yeah a small screwdriver would be helpful... there's no way you'll be able to unclip with your bare hands.
I really can't describe it any better than I've tried already. As I said the secret is to try to expand the part holding the clip then push it out as the clips are kinda 'locked' into position... like they squeezed the clip through the hole to get it in, then once it was in the hole closed shut on the clip to hold it there... you need to expand that hole so it can get back out.
