Hi guys,

got some FK Coilovers from the GB that was running on here. Fitted no probs there but now there is some knocking noise from the front. I'm not sure how much I have lowered the car cause I didn't measure clearance before and after. I haven't gone all the way down:)

Spoke to Rimstyle and they said I should be able to go down up to 65mm without probs.

Any help? Wheels are not rubbing on full lock either side and they turn freely.

Cheers

also read that it could be the strut mounts at the top that have worn with the old shocks worth a look there mate

i put new strut top mounts on when i had my coilovers fitted,

No clunking noises yet, i got told not to go lower than 45mm at the front unless i wanted to damage things...

Assuming you have changed the drop links to the ones provided by FK

Look at the drivers side where the drop link is. you'll find that the top of the drop link catches the plastic inner arch!!

Put ur hand in and cut a small section of the inner arch out!!

Job done!

I did change to the FK droplinks!

I'll check it mate - hope that is the problem cause ARB will cost me £230 fitted just for the front:'(

and was saving for brakes:(

fingers crossed

mine clunks when turning to full lock parking, standard setup. i think its quite common. sounds like going over a drain lid.

hey chaps just to update you on this,

i chopped the plastic and now it doesn't sound that much....still though when turning it makes a sound like the springs are under stress.

checked the ARB and its not catching....no signs on it at all....seems pretty much dusty as you would expect.

Any other ideas?

Update:

Had it checked by a garage and the noise is coming from the springs when the car is turning. The springs turn with the shock and hence the noise.....sprayed it with some WD40 and the noise still remains:( VERY UNHAPPY

PLUS the front left shock has play in it!!!!! Which apart from an MOT failure is a bit dangerous as well:(

I'll ring Rimstyle on Monday to see how we can sort it out......me being in M'cr doesn't really help as well and them being in Kent:(

My FR with Koni sport kit knocks on full lock too - I thought it may be the springs, cheers.

u're probably right mate:( just bad luck.....although the box did come open and rims said that they would check to see if they are ok b4 sending them out (not sure what they meant though)

spoke to Gary on Saturday and he said he'll speak to FK today for them to send 2 new front shocks so that I change them to sort out the spring noise and the play in the left front.

fingers crossed - can only wait
