fr tdi 170 problems?

Hi

I just recently purchased my leon at the weekend and i have noticed a few problems. The lights on the dash keep dimming and then getting bright again. then the wipers will work on full speed when its not even raining? (this happens quite a lot?) i have moved the wiper stalk all the way down to what i think is the off position but they still just have a mind of their own :/ also the lights round the stereo have gone off when i have been driving at night for a like 20 mins then just came back on randomly... somebody has previously fitted what looks like after market parking sensors which are useless and beep when you are nowhere near anything. could this be causing the other issues?

The car pulls very well but the diesel reek that comes out the back seams unnatural. it also reeks a lot on tick over? Could the dpf be removed or is it possible the car has been remapped? I also hear a lot of turbo whistle? but the car still pulls like a train? how do you check if the injectors have been done?

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

If it stinks then i would say its had DPF removal done, with no DPF these engines stink badly

Thanks for your reply. if i get her on the ramp tonight is it easy to tell is the dpf has been removed?

Just have a look at the downpipe. If its been gutted you should see some welding on the box, if the box is missing its a DPF delete pipe.

Does the car smoke at all? Most DPF Delete cars above 205bhp will smoke

yeh bud it smokes alot thats what i mean by reek lol, my bad i heard they smell like rotten eggs with the dpf but mine deffo doesn't smell like rotten eggs

if it smokes it hasn't got a DPF thats for sure.

They smell heavily of burnt fuel, not pleasant at all. What colour is the smoke? Black?

Yeh only smokes black under load or at least that's what my mates have told me. Sometimes looks a bit blue on tick over tho... possibly over fueling?

Had some of my mechanic mates look at it last night everything seems ok possible little boost leak but it must be tiny. will look again this wknd. also got some codes up on the computer which could explain the electric problems.
