I notice that said dealer from the start of this thread is offering an 'internet only' price on one of their cars which is up on Autotrader.

Dealers should be ashamed of themselves the amount of **** they give decent customers.

I test drove a Mini Cooper S the day b4 I fell in love with the Cupra. The guy drove that fast the mrs felt sick sitting in the back. After spending 20 mins appraising my Celica he said I can't give you a part ex price today as the sales manager isn't it (it was a Sunday) and I need to know what spec you want. i told him the spec give or take a couple of minor things and said you ring me back tomorrow or get the sales manager too. Nothing for 10 days until he rang and asked if I had decided what spec you want.

Pointed out to him that he already knew what roughly what spec (enough to give a part ex price for my Celica anyway) that he was supposed to ring me back and I had just spent over £20K elsewhere.

Mini dealers as they are BMW dealers also think they are above themselves and its a pleasure for you to buy car from them.

Its no wonder so many people now buy cars from the internet or Motorpoint and the like.

S8N to make you feel better years ago when I was lad... My Dad bought a brand new RS Turbo and I can remember the sales guy saying that he had NEVER sold a Cosworth to a guy wearing a suit. People who came in wearing a suit would buy a basic Fiesta, those with money couldn't care less what the wore.

World has most certainly changed hasn't it?

I really really wanted a Focus ST. No matter the cost or insurance. The look, the feel and the style really appealed to me. I bought a normal Focus because I was trying to be sensible and well, I was underwhelmed very shortly afterwards. Especially with problems I had. I resolved to buy the ST so started shopping around. I went to three Ford dealers, none would let me have a test drive. Even with a 6 month old Titanium for trade-in, NO finance to settle and cash.

Hence why I went Seat. The Cupra was so nearly my buy but the FR TDI ended up being in stock for purchase (the Cupra demonstrator was not for sale!) and I was so mad at Fords dealers, I wanted shot of the Focus Titanium as quick as possible!. I don't regret my FR purchase as I have fallen totally in love with the car. I think I actually bought a better buy for my needs.

I actually drove into Evans Halshaw recently after work. All suited and booted. Amazing how much more friendly they were AND they had the cheek to offer me a drive in an ST-2!!!!

I just laughed and said "no thanks mate, got a great car now. Focus was tainted because no one was interested in my business 5 months ago". He tried a new tact but I just strolled off. Felt good ya know!?

Sales woman (yes, the famous model one!) said "sure, no problem", even though we had not expressed any intention of going for the higher spec car.

OMG have you seen that woman!! I went to MK Seat and got distracted from my sales guy when I saw her!! I spent 30mins talking "figures" and trying to prev at her a**e at every opportunity. I wish i arrived 5 mins later!!!

Though it may be a good thing as she probably could have talked me into remortgaging the house and buying 10 Cupras!! Im sure the girlfreind wouldnt be impressed living in a Cupra! though it would be the quickest house in the world!!

Bought my Leon FR TDi this weekend from my local friendly dealer in Harrogate.
