Frong Fog Bulb out a MOT Failure?

As per the subject guys, I am waiting for a new HID ballast for my Fog light and its knacered at the moment.

MOT due in a week, just wanted to know if this would be an MOT failure if the bulb was out?

i think if you have them they should work - so yes would fail at the moment

i know a member is vosa trained so may pop along to clarify

I took mine to an MOT without the whole fog light unit on one side and they didnt say anything about it.

They are really easy to remove just pop off the cover and unscrew two screwws pull em out jobs a gooden

a normal H3 bulb from halfords is a fiver could probably get it less from a propa motor factors place

could stick one in just for mot

yeah booked in for MOT now on Thurs, that's what i will do probably if not arrived.

Waiting due to post init on the airoooooooooplaneeeeeeeeeee! ASH problems!

If not, I know the garage and can probably say, im getting it sorted, just ignore! They probably won't even notice tbh!

Mine passed on tuesday with no fog lights just grilles - removed due to FMIC.

I dont think there part of an MOT as not all cars have them so it cant fail based on something they cant test on all cars?

Not tested on the MOT so even if they are fitted they dont have to work.

as above front fog lamps are not part of the mot

MOTs are funny, some years ago i had a scooter, the front mudgaurd was hanging off, any way the guy at the MOT garage said that the scooter would fail if it went in like that. so the guy at the garage told me to remove the mudgaurd and all will be ok. so it what it boils down to is, if you have something on your car ect, it must work, if not remove it completly.

Yep - my rear wiper is shagged and the rear washer does not work, spare wheel is bust, but still passed as neither of these are part of the MOT so they don't even look at them.

Anything like fog lights etc that not every car has I presume cannot form part of the test so dont worry about it!

Front wipers and washers have to work, but only if you have a windscreen, which legally you dont have to have..lol

interestingly my tax reknews for 1st may and of course because the MOT runs out on the 29th April i can't tax it at the mo! LOL!

You can tax it online or at a post office even though it runs out shortly.

Nope you cant

Tried that, because the car isn't MOT'ed yet i can't buy tax online for it, as it doesn't think the car will be mot'ed at the moment !! LOL

They must have tightened that up my tax and mot are months apart.

Don't think so, just says you must have an MOT when your licence is due (ie 1st May - 1st May 2011)

Its just the system making sure you won't be taxing it without an MOT!
