WOW very loud door speakers

Does anyone know what make? watts?

They look normal maybe upgrade.

The speakers are passable but not great (and used to be made in that famous audio manufacturing nation Tunisia ) - I seem to remember the tweeter was Blaupunkt and the bass driver may have been Philips (so nicely matched pair then!). They can probably do about 30WPC at tops I would have thought.

Not sure what make these are but it sounds like i have a sub in the boot, i've taken the grill off the drivers door and the speaker look normal, i was expecting an aftermaket type, Could mine be bose speakers?

Unlikely as Bose weren't an option on the Mk1. Don't even think there was an upgrade option. I think over time Audi may have handed down speakers from their parts bin as they recycle stock, but as you say, the later cars seemed to have better sounding speakers than the earlier ones. In my 53 plate they were absolute arse, in the 05 car they were much better on bass response but lacking a bit in mid and treble.

i will try and get to the speaker, as it looks i have to take the bottom panel off, mine was reg in 01/02/2002.

I will take a pic then post it, these front speakers are great.

In my old car i was running my 2 12" vibe boxes, i was thinking to put them in the leon but i'm shocked how bassy the standard speakers are no distortion just mirrors virating so you cant see whats behind you great stuff.

My 03 plate LCR speakers are really good, considering they are OE fit. In fact, they actually sound better than my Rockford Fosgate speakers that I had in the Celica!

Very impressed :)

yep i will say the same,

tommorrow my misson is to take the door panel off and get a look behind the speaker,

i've had a Renault Megane/Vauxhall Vectra/Citroen Saxo, and none of them sound as good as these, the vectra had 10 speakers.

I agree, the speakers in mine are great, they dont distort atall, they used to until i changed the aura headunit, but now they do a fine job. I fancy an amped sub in the boot but im not sure if its worth it.

Speakers in my 03 LCR are awesome. Loads of times people ask me if I have a sub I have the factory fit Sat Nav, wonder if it is a better amp than the other ones?

Yeah, the speakers in my 03 LCR are good as well, although I need to turn the treble down to about -3 when playing CDs up loud (volume 25-30). Amp loses control of high frequencies at that volume (Aura headunit).

thing about speaker is that it all depends on the listener and type of music. If someone is used to the usual OEM sound systems, then yes, the leon is very good considering the price of the car.

But comparing them in general, they are still only just acceptable. It's a shame that OEM sound systems are usually just afterthoughts - but then again it help the car audio industry.

I do remember the original leon speakers to be "not bad" though, and yes, the tweeters are Blaupunkt and the mids are Philips.

I used to have a slight obsession with car audio. My old Focus had enough spent on the ICE to have funded a new car  I spent hours and hours on it, getting it just right and using some top quality kit (DLS A5 amp, Diamond Audio front speakers, JL W6 subs) so I think I'm in a good position to say I think the standard Leon speakers are good quality! Obviously they will never compare with a setup like the Focus had, but you would have to spent a lot of money to get speakers that noticably outperform the standard ones.

agreed - to really improve on the original Leon setup you would need to spend a lot of money. For most people it is very good and the extra money spent is not really justified, but then, we are not most people
