Just wondered if anyone has anyone experienced a simlar problem?!

Got an '04 Leon Cupra and whilst driving over a speed bump yesterday (within the speed limit!) one of the front springs broke, with a 3 inch piece literally being sheared off!!

Have booked it in to the dealer for next week, but car is two weeks out of warranty!!

Has anyone had any experience of such a problem, or been able to get a dealer to carry out work under warranty if its only just expired?!

Most likley then wont, the day the warranty finishesh its you problem. You may have to cough up your self.

You might as well gets some lowering spings instead

I am sure Seat would make an offer as a gesture of goodwill, as you are only 2 weeks out of warranty.

Defo push for this, your car should be expected to last longer than this before eating it's suspension.

Will def try to get something..............will let you know how i get on!!

if not, don't get it repaired like for like from the dealer - just invest in some new springs & dampers - and get them fitted at a VW specialist locally.

Its quite a common fault, but not normally on a car that new.

GFs TDI Leon went 2 weeks ago. Car is 51-plate. Seat wanted 60 quid for single spring and 110 to fit !!!!

In the end she bought the spring from them and took it to a local place to fit for 50 squid.

There is a debate of changing both, but apparently theres a huge number of different Leon springs, all colour coded, and matched so well you can get away with replacing just one.

But here's hoping they'll honour the warranty

Result - Seat have a agreed to cover the cost of the replacement spring!! :)
