On highway... cruise control and eco mode is best... you can reach 6.9/100km with mixex speed...with the VZ 2...but yes.. it is very sensitive as soon as you stop driving like and old lady just the slighest it will go up..but if you very light on the pedal.. you can actually drive it economically. imo... it is not easy however to be ligh on the pedal with this car however... it is not the reason you bought this kind of car... but to turn of the fake sound does help.. cause the fake sound trigger you to drive faster and accerlate more...the cruise control helps you to resist the temptation...

In winter however...it can be more...for shorter trips in minus 10C or more it could be 14./100km...so yes in winter it is not the most economical car for sure,..for shorter trips when egine has got warm it will consume less ofc..but for me I have about 15 minutes to work..so engine is barely warm when I arrive... I am thinking of installing a engine heater before the next winter...

I have just traveled to Chester and back for work in my VZ2 310ps covering 423 miles. Most of the journey is on motorways apart from 100 miles of A roads where I was in Cupra mode with the gear box in manual where I was having fun accelerating away from roundabouts and over taking cars/lorries. I filled up 6 miles into the journey and at the same place on my way back so had done 411 miles from the tank with a range of 25 miles still showing.

Whats the current mileage on your car? I am curious to find out if the MPG gets better after a couple of thousand miles.

What were your driving conditions? Mixture of motorway and country?

Current mileage 1888. Driving conditions - as for rest of country yesterday very hot had air con on fan level 3 on lowest setting. Individual mode ( everything in softest setting and engine in eco) in the 1 hour 10 mins leg it's probably 5 mins village/town driving 30 mins motorway 35 mins combination of dual carriageway/ A road.

Family of 4 + pram, shopping etc)

Don't get me wrong I was conscious the whole journey and treated it as a bit of a test to see what it could achieve. I was extremely light on the noisy pedal and never stopped scanning the road ( went out of my way to use the brakes as little as possible).

I am a bit obsessive with my cars when it comes to this. Don't get me wrong, I love to hoon it around, but when I am not in the mood, I drive like this all the time. It is almost like a little game with myself, trying to get the MPG as high as possible haha.

I am just pleased to see that its achievable on these types of journeys. I assume you have the 310 version?

Same as me then mate. I used to do it in my old leon to see how many ' efficiency points' I could score ha.

There is no point in me driving it any other way when I have the family in the car as they don't really appreciate it. 18 month old for obvious reasons, 9 year old quite likes the thrill, missus doesn't really appreciate it though ha. In fact I put it into cupra S mode on 2 occasions to get past 2 tractors. I got a tut from the missus on both occasions as I woke her up twice haha.

When I'm on my own I like to drive it completely differently and like putting it through its paces. I've got a 300 mile round trip on Sunday so will report back after that. I will be with my dad and brother though so I've got license to be a bit more erratic when we get to country roads. It's mainly motorway driving but when we are on the country roads I intend to have some fun so mpg's naturally won't be as good.

Yeah 310ps mate

Yeah exactly! When I test drove the Golf R I was able to get 39/40mpg by driving like this. Although the 5 launches I did on a quiet stretch of road changed that haha.

Same here, my little one is 3 years old and my partner gives me the "tuts" all the time along with "urgh, you are just wasting fuel!" - so I understand how you feel!

That would be awesome, are you able to tag me or quote my username so I dont miss it? I am planning on running the car in by going to see friends in Liverpool. I live in Swindon so it'll be a 344 mile round trip, will be interesting to see if I can do it on a single tank!

Ha sounds very similar. apart from my missus ain't too arsed about wasting fuel, she just doesn't want to be woken up ha.

Yeah no worries mate. I live in Preston I'm going to alcester which is just south of Birmingham I think near Redditch think it's about 280 miles in total both ways. I'm guessing about 60 miles or so are off the motorway so I intend in having it in cupra mode for that time. I'm Gona fill up with Tesco momentum 99 Ron on saturday night and give that a go ready for an early start. Sunday morning.

I'm in exactly the same boat. Eek it out with the family in the car, hoon it when alone. My wife's favourite line is she 'doesn't want to be killed'. Me: 'I'm just overtaking a tractor (ffs)' 🤣. So on this site, we have a partner that is a very environmentally conscious 🍃, another who is very tired 😴 and another who is just scared to death 😩.

Now if I was to suggest that we do a challenge between us all - see who can get the highest MPG on a 300 mile journey, the Formentor will start looking economical

Ha are we making ourselves Out to be the 'captain slows of the cupra world!' on short trips it is near impossible to get any decent mpg and it would be hypocritical to get this car and be annoyed that it doesn't return a hybrid like mpg but for me it's the family car as well as my personal one. My missus has a mini cooper but anything family related we obviously jump in the Formentor. So getting a decent mpg some of the time is important to us and my wallet. Just shows it can be done though to get a decent return. Besides how much fun can you really have with an hour of motorway/ carriageway driving with the family.

It is a nice car to just sit back and take it easy in sometime. I more than make up for it when I'm on my own ha and I guess that balances the books out.

Not all females want to be driven slowly ;-) I asked my friend once to drive faster and he said, I'm the first person who ever asked him to do it. It was betwen Prague and Munich, so it was possible to drive faster, and I wanted to get to our destination ASAP.

Thanks for this mate. It’s great to hear that the car can wear a few faces. I’m exactly like you in that family driving will most likely be in comfort whilst my alone time will undoubtedly be in Cupra / Sport. A couple of the reviews say that the DCC transforms the car, so your real world updates enforce that. I’ll be able to post my own experiences from mid July hopefully. 🤞🏼

No worries mate. It's good to know a few of us will be in the same boat. After all it's in the crossover/ SUV segment so it's not surprising that it will be used as a daily driver for the family for quite a few owners. Like you say it's reassuring to know this is a versatile car that can exchange a few compliments one second then the next put its hand down your trousers and have a good old rummage around.

Yeah I'm by no means an expert as this is only my second car ( previous being a 1.2 Leon) but it is impressive how you can change the whole set up on the move and it has a profound affect. It's looks are obviously striking and in comfort/ individual mode ( that I've set in eco) it is very smooth, calm and understated. Flick it into cupra and it becomes a different animal.

Ah I hope your looking forward to it.. I've had a few niggles with infotainment but only minor, luckily unlike some other members on here.

What spec have you got yours in?

Just basic spec pal, tbh, as only pan roof left to add, but too much of a hike on the monthlies. Midnight black, Black leather, 310 VZ2. I’ll be coming from an F11 5series 520d which I’ve loved, but am now finding a bit heavy and bland. So looking forward to a change and going back to petrol after having diesel in my last two cars, Octavia vRS and the 5’er.
Really looking forward to getting the car, this wait is killing me though!🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

I have done 420 miles driving from Kent to Chester and back on one tank with the trip computer showing 20 miles left in my VZ2 310.
