Not sure if anything has changed with the newer services. But traditionally fuel filter on a petrol was lifetime. I changed mine on my MK2 when it was 8 years old. Didn't seem anything wrong with it though. Diesels have them yearly.
I agree with the above and probably change it at the 8 year point - why, just because I feel that that might be a useful thing to do.
I think that you would find, if you went into any VW Group dealership parts department and tried to buy a new petrol filter, they would need to order it in for you - so that for me points to them now not being a service item.
Of course places like ECP will probably have them in stock, from memory, VW Group seem to fit Chinese made petrol filters at the factories brand name might sound/look like USP or similar, for my money, I'd just buy a Mann/Hengst version if I wanted to replace it.

If you look at the document titled ‘Maintenance’ you can see exactly what is covered and when during service.
You should be aware that main dealers or Seat web pages refer to what is included in major/minor service, but in the small print there will be: *as required. For example air filters are only changed at 6 year / 60,000 miles.
As per the previous answer diesel oil filters are drained of water every service and replaced at 90,000 km.
