Fuel Light - Cupra

Hi Guys

Just coming to the end of my first tank of fuel in the Cupra. The light has just come on, the computer says it only has 20 miles left. Looks a lot more then that on the guage though.

So how many miles roughly left when the light (and the warning tone sounds)on???

As usual... it depends! You don't mention whether it is the Petrol or diesel Cupra (was there a TDi cupra in 2002?) so it's bit of a how long is a piece of string question...

In my TDi FR I get somewhere between 40-60 miles, I've not dared push it further...

Its a petrol Cupra, totally standard. Normal sort of driving not pushing it.

you should get about 30 miles but be warned mine went down to 5 miles left, i thought i would get to the garage 3 miles away and didn't make it

my tdi 130 got over 80 miles with light on and light foot

Thats strange as i normally get an additional 20-25 miles when the gauge is reading 0. Ive done it on more than 1 occasion and the tank when the computer says it is 0 is good for another 30 miles or so!

Ive even broken down and run out of fuel to prove the point lol Twice

I always panic when mine reads 0 and get some fuel quick so never really tested it!

Would have though there is some safety margin built in but the info on the computer (miles left/mpg etc etc) seems to be complete bollocks a lot of the time!

mine always comes on when its at 50 miles according to car
but be warned, i ignored it one day in the space of my 17 mile trip home it went down to 5miles, when i filled it up it took 54.38 litres-its a 55 litre tank

so dont trust it

Your not trying hard enough

It is possible to get 57-58 litres back in.
