Hullo all! Anyone got any ideas/tips on getting these sorted. I know the Intake manifold runner motor probably needs replacing because I'm always doing the basic setting reset. But the other two are new ones!!! Where do i check the wiring for these other two? I'm not so hot on the spanners so go easy on me!!

Thanks.

PS: Posted this in the vag com section, however either no one checks in there or no one that checks in there knows! So sorry in advance for the re post!!:ban:

at a gess i would say its the thrust sensor on your fuel pump , its screwed into the left had side as you look at the pump from the front.

Do these go regularly? It was replaced under warranty in 2009! I know the sensor itself isn't all that expensive (already got a quote from sere ;)) is it a hard job to do yourself?

EDIT: Sorry rob thanks for the advice too!!!

Rudgey,

If it is that sensor on the pump, its only a matter of un clipping the connector and using a spanner of the appropriate size to remove the old one and install the new one.

Guess using a torque wrench might come in handy, since these are sensitive and vag advises a torq of 15 nm (as my mind serves me) to secure them (which is very hard to achieve by hand and overtorqing by hand can become costly).
I would advice to be carefull and not touch the hpfp until you know exactly what to do....

Ok thanks to both of you! I have access to a torque wrench a friend used to be a diesel generator engineer and helps with stuff like this when i need it. Can anyone confirm the torque i need please? Also does the system need bleeding before taking off the sensor? Thread lock or anything needed? And anything else I need to know?

there is a diy in the Fact part of this forum. No thread lock needed but bleeding will be nescesary.
If you bleed the system you might just as well change the follower.

no problem mate ;)

thats not true , you will need to bleed the pressure off from the fuel pump first.
just remember when doing this do not open the drivers door with the sensor disconnected from the fuel pump body , or it will prime the pump again and you will have a ready made fountain in your engine bay

Hi kev!!! You got pm mate!!! Thanks a million!!! I've fitted it this morning! Jesus tho did u notice all the ally filings inside the induction pipe!!! Cleaned it out with my compressor now and some rag!! Oooo nearly forgot did u charge me for the dead wasps in the cones don't remember seeing them listed as included on ebay ;) lol
