As cleverspoon advises swap the sensors from one side to the other.The fault should show on the other side if the sensor is faulty. Leons have a problem with water entering the inside of the car through the door seals.You need to remove the door cards and take off the internal metal door panel by removing about ten bolts.I cleaned mine up and siliconed it all around and have not had the problem since.

The best way to do door seals is with butyl tape, get a 5m roll of it iff ebay for 10 to £15, remove all of the bolts on metal inner door card but leave the top bolts in loosely, the metal pannel will hang there but with enough room to remove old seal and insert buttl tape.....bolt up and watch butyl strip ooze out.
I have already sealed all the doors with butyl tape however I must have not done a great job of it.
My plan is to now put silicon sealant all around the metal plate (between the plate and the door without removing the bolts) and see if that does the job.
I will move the sensor from one side to the other and see what happens. Don't have much time at the moment so it might take a while.

Hi guys, just got this error as well today!
Crash Sensor Airbag Driver side G179 open/short.
Is there any risk of a airbag going off?

I disconnected the battery and then tried to start the car a few times (with the battery still disconnected) to remove any charge left in the system.
I then removed the seat and unplugged the sensor and it all seams fine.
I am not quite sure what to do when I reconnect the battery. You should leave the door open and make sure you are not in the car however I don't know if you should leave the key in the ignition with it on or if you should keep the key in your pocket.
Any ideas?
Also can you tell what the coding of the sensor is by looking at the sensor label?
I believe mine is 6Q0 909 606 / 00A however I have seen people put 6Q0 909 606 K / 00A what is the difference?
