Ive been doing some research on this fault code that my lcr has thrown up and wanted to know if mk1 leons have the g201 sendor under the master cylinder or part of the abs sender unit?
I logged on vag-com and It said esp mk60 does this mean ive got the system where the sendor is part of the abs pump?

I then logged on the check the g201 and g204 sendors and both were reading negative bar them when pressing brake peddle they both went up evenly would this indicate the sensor is working correctly?

I also checked the brake switch on vag-com and that seemed to be working too?

Bit confused whats causing the fault code now?

Any help would be appreciated as its mot is due soon.

Both sensors are in the master brake cylinder. Both your readings look fine. Normally if they are faulty they have a value of 7 or above at rest without any brake pressure. It could be an intermittent problem or it could be the brake switch.

I cleared the vault but it came back straight away in split second. The break light switch operates the lights and vag-com could see it working but do they play up causing these problems?

Just went to remove the brake switch to clean connections up and the light has gone out now after being on yesterday!!!
Does the problem with the g201 sensor come and go like that or does it just look like a brake switch playing up or even just an electrical glitch which might not happen again?

They are intermittent. When the light comes on again vagcom it and check the brake boost sensor readings as before.

youre brake light switch was working on the data block so it was OK
as ive said allready G201 is in the ABS PUMP not on the master cylinder
you have Teves 60 ABS not Teves 20

Thanks for confirming what system I have. I got conflicting information. The light came back on today then went off again so I need to get it sorted. I assume even if the pressure readings are ok even when the light is on the abs pump still needs replacing?
I will ring seat on Monday and see if they will replace it free if charge.

As per the other thread this issue was giving me nightmares mate. The light finally went out of its own accord as hasnt been back (just worked it out its not been an issue for 7 months). It must have been a lose wire the part itself cant have been faulty.

I cant remember who but I'm sure was told the wheel sensor can set this off, lose wire/dirt etc..

Intermittent problems are the worst type. I'd rather the light just stay on and be easily diagnosed. Cars mot is due in 6 weeks so I need the light to stay off by then.
It seems to come on when the car is hot so maybe a wheels sensor is playing up bit I would have thought a fault code of the problematic sensor would have thrown up.
I will ring seat tomorrow if they won't help I will find a local vag specialist to take a look at it.

All the MK1 LCR's are based on the mk4 platform and have both sensors in the master brake cylinder (all the ones I have seen at least).
The G201 in the ABS pump is usually for the MK5 platform.

Look under your master brake cylinder you can even see it in situ.

Getting confused now. Got in touch with seremotors and they said my car has got the 2 sensors in the master cylinder even though I've got the teves 60 system!! So is my problem the sendor or is it still the abs pump?
Would changing the tip pipe have any effect on the ESP system? I fitted a badger 5 tip and induction lot a few weeks ago and didn't have the problem before that? Also can dirty brake / water contaminated brake fluid cause this as the light only comes on when hot? Although it didn't come on at all today??

I hope your right mate a new one is £750!!!!
If the light stays off long enough for the mot I will just leave for a while if not I will get a vag specialist to have a look.

Does the light need to be on when taken to the garage or will the code being stored in the ecu enough?
