Gear box oil

Hi i have been searching but can only find which oil to use , i want to know the amount needed, before anyone Say's "look in the service book" i cant im at work, i will be going out at lunch time to buy some, so need to know now if possible. The car is a 01 cupra.

Just changed this on a family members Cupra. We decided to stick with the VAG stuff. It took 2.5 (ish) litres. The oil comes on 1 litre bottles.
The stuff coming out had been in there since the car was new, it’s now on 100k! The gears now feel a lot smoother now. Well worth doing!!

be aware you need a 'special tool' to do this. I presume you have seen the info on how to do this?

Cheers for the info lads, yes i had seen the info on the tool Andy, luckily i have a full set of those, my car has 105000 miles and i have owned the car for the last 3 years and this has not been done in that time, and i cant find any evidence in the service history either so i thought i had better do it.

Another tip suggested to me was to remove the fill plug first. No point draining the oil if you can’t put any back in!
