Anyone fittet an aftermarket gearknob, like the universal MOMO ones or something?

How did you fit the original gaiter to the bottom of the gear knob, or did you get an extension thing on the bottom or new gaiter?

Any ideas, pics would be great

thanks

Need help!
I just fitted a MOMO on my mk2. The gaiter is too short to tuck into the bottom of the knob.
I'm going to get a new one this week. For now I have used black electric tape to hol it up. Sounds really really bad but looks ok (just like a plastic connector) as a temp measure.

grap, if you get a momo one, force the top part of the gaiter throught the bottom screw on bit of the new knob then screw that to the top main part with the gaiter tucked inside. took ages to do as gaiter was blocking screw threads but got there in the end. looks well smart now.

Yeah that was my plan but the top of my gaiter is f'd up! Need a new gaiter really but they are stapled onto the gear surround, could be quite fiddly to fit a new one.

I got a momo one same problems, i eventually had to stitch the gaitor up at the top as it kept falling through, im gonna get a cupra one soon so it looks better but il have to do the same thing!

ive fitten a red/silver one from ebay which looks a bit like a snakes head

my gaiter cloth is just sitting scruffily haolfway up the stick, but its actually quite good, because the cloth is now slack, it's a great place to put my mobile phone

i fitted a chrome sparco gear knob to mine, same as aimez i had to sew the top up so it went tight and didn't fall down, is ok now though!

a cupra gear knob and gaiter costs £45 plus VAT!!!! :-o

there's also a guide somewhere on how to fit the gear knob, it's from a leon i think but the same principle!!

Ad lav....... what's the gaitor from your sport like, is it just plain black or does it have funky stitching??
