Nope the next nearest dealer is about 30 miles away. I think this job is perhaps covered by warranty at Service Manager's discretion, but he just didn't want to back down.
TBH I'll be fooked if I have to drive 60 miles to get it done by another dealer! Will just phone Seat and give them a piece of my mind. This is the 4th Seat I've owned but this could be the last if they start to take the mick like this! I am however fairly confident that I'll get it replaced. The fact that other folk have makes me sure this is a dealer's discretion issue.
I am baffled that the gaitor isn`t leather anyhow, all my previous seat cars have been. The material seems to pick up grubby marks too. Glad to see the replacement is leather, ish.....
No idea as yet. The line I took was that of questioning the gator's durability and saying that this was my 4th Seat and that there wouldn't be a 5th if they were going to be petty about the warranty. Do you know that Customer Services phoned back later in the afternoon wanting to know the registration numbers of the 3 older Seats I've had! All this carry-on over a flipping gear stick gator! Luckily I could remember them, but it's as if they are shaping up to give me a "good will" deal because I'm a regular customer. They also wanted to know where I originally bought the car from and when the car was last serviced! What the heck has this got to do with a gator splitting? Getting the engine serviced isn't going to affect the gator!
I'm meant to have a decision on the warranty replacement tomorrow so will wait and see what they will be offering....or not!
Right, got a call from Seat Customer Services yesterday (Thurs) morning. They have agreed to replace my gear stick gator for free. Just as well - I was shaping up far a scrap! lol
I've been advised that I've just got to phone the Service Manager at the dealer I had the car serviced and he should arrange the replacement. I'm going one better and will visit the dealership to arrange it - just to see the look on the Service Manager's face! lol Hopefully he'll think twice before trying to **** me around next time.
Just been to have a face-to-face with the Service Manager! Oh how I loved it - he had big difficulty in looking me in the eye! lol GAITER has been ordered and they will call me when it's ready to fit. They wanted me to leave the car with me for an afternoon, but I told them to get lost! Gaiter should take all of 10mins to fit. In the end they have agreed to fit it whilst I wait.
Think the manager is just a "by the book" guy for warranty stuff as he was happy to disable the cornering fogs for nothing....
Just thought I'd add to the thread, that my car was in today getting the update for the battery issues, getting the brakes checked and the gearstick splitting issue.
They are covering the gearstick issue under the warranty, and my warranty is due to run out in 12 days! This was Arnold Clark 'Seat'. No questions asked.
