gearbox?

i was wondering what gearbox is in the 1.8 16v gti adl engine code? its the 96 p reg.
ive done a search but came up with over 500 results and the first lot a trawled through weren't helpfull.

i am in need of a new one
the garage who did my clutch said it will be 400 for a recon'd one. but want to know what code gear box is to look for one.

also could anyone suggest places to look.
any help will be appretiated?

apparently the differential has collapsed? just spoke to them on the phone say may or may not be salvagable

the actual trans code will be stamped into the casing itself along with a 6 digit number

CDA 123456 for example



is it cable or rod change ?

both share the same 66/18 (3.66) diff if it helps

the vw code for it is 020 mate, i've just changed mine, it'll be rod change aswell, all of the ibizas are except the ABF engine'd ibizas.

i want one though, i think when i do my o2j gearbox swap i'll whack a diff in aswell, then new clutch and lightened flywheel and you're laughing

my diff is destroyed also is sad times but they think they probs wont need to change the whole box if the casing is fine im just gutted about having to drive an old suzuki balerno or sumert as a loaner
