Is it a non-starter? Wifes got an '05 1.9 TDI and its great apart from the slight dash rattles that can occur on the motorway around the centre console? anyone had this sorted under warranty with any success or is there no chance?

**edit** title should say 'sorted' - sorry!

There have been dash rattling Alteas reported in the past.... I got a rattle from the rear parcel shelf from time to time, think it's the false / hidden cubby whole that also drops down from time to time. I'll take it out if it annoys me too much.

My nearest dealer said they would sort it, but said rattles are hard to diagnose, and that I may be without my car for a few days. I decided to leave it for a while. :headhurt:

I bought an ex demo altea from LC Charles almost a year ago . Ended up going back time and time again for various faults , each time they tried to stop the dashboard rattle .. Got that pissed off with the way I was treated, and waiting weeks to get a loan cars ( 2 hours round trip from my house ) that I just turn up the stereo now .. Good luck with getting rid of yours though !!

Hi,
I have had dashboard rattle on my Altea Stylance since i bought it 3 years ago, various visits to the dealer proved a waste of time,

My '07 Altea 1.9tdi had a rattle that drove me mad. I thought it came from the dash but driving round with my son searching for it we found it was the passenger seatbelt stalk vibrating off the centre console. I could've sworn it came from the dash area. Fixed it with a sticky back bit of felt from the pound shop!
