BMW engine tho so should last (hopfully)
but as my previous post said, i may be losing my job in the comming months so im thinking a £500 corsa b for now :(

I really sympathise, mate. :(

I was in a very similar position last September. We were told that the Council was radically streamlining its IT dept and that posts would have to go and that a review was taking place to see where and how the axe would fall and our dept was included in this. For 3 months I had to hang around to see if I was out of a job or not. It was especially maddening for us as less than 4 months before our boss had stood in front of us and said that our jobs were safe for the foreseeable future, and that the proposed review would not consider our particular dept. On the strength of that I went out and bought my FR! Anyway when the axe did fall the jobs went in the other IT Depts and part of our dept (one of the other teams) was merged with another dept, but our particular team stayed as it was. In the end 23 jobs are going...over a third of the workforce.

It was a very worrying time and I was having to consider selling the FR and buy a banger just like you are thinking about doing. Thankfully it ended OK for me and I hope the same goes for you. When do you think you'll know one way or another?

Thanks for your concern, seems a lot of people have been in the same situation lately!
The management have given us a 30day consultation period for everyone to discuss options

What they are doing is shifting some of the work to another site and this is to be complete by the 10th of March, so I’m guessing I will know more by then but it was only in november they told us "jobs are safe for the foreseeable future" and we had just landed a new contract with a big new client.
which is now shifting to the other site!

to be honest I may look else ware as 50+ staff out of 130 that work there is almost half the work force, the general thinking is they are scaling back and winding down before they close completely.

Had a letter from the dealer inChesterfield from where I bought my white FR TDI, saying in urgent need of quality cars come and see us and you will be suprised in what we offer! Taking in the comments of this thread, I decided to go and I was suprised - they offered only what I had been quoted by Mini as a trade in. Even worse is the difference between we are being offered and the sticker price approx £3000! Seems we are being ripped off....[:@]

These cars aren't too old yet so still have depreciation left in them.

I paid £16K for my cupra brand new with no VAT offer, would of been £19K without it, out of curiosity I asked SEAT how much they would offer me. £12.5K but as cash not trade in. Glad i got the no VAT offer otherwise I would be losing even more!

At the end of the day a car isn't an investment, well not cars as new as these. So they will always cost you money in the end.
