I've just been told by my Lease company that the last day to order a cupra 290 black is Thursday 15th of September, I assume a facelift for the cupra is coming too...

Skoda has stopped taking orders for Octavia RS230 due to facelift release at the start of 2017....

Seat dealers aren't spilling the beans on this one

Seat dealers aren't spilling the beans on this one. The 2017 Leon brochures are due to be in the showrooms by tomorrow (Friday 16/09/2016) across Europe, so I'd imagine there will be info ion what direction the Cupra is going to go in then? Unless the changes are big, I'll not be upgrading.

What i’m not really understanding as far as the ‘300’ goes (aside from the visual upgrades) is that the 290, Golf R and S3 all seem to be running the same EA888 ECU mapping (multiple tuners have confirmed how lazy the VAG group have been with this) and so are all pushing anywhere between 300-315bhp anyway despite being touted as 290/300/310ps. Does this mean a power hike for the other two by 10ps also or is it more marketing BS?

Yep just marketing spiel. You may see a few extra horses with the middle silencer removal that the 290 sc / 5 Dr varients benefitted from but this brings them into line with the St.
