Need some new shoes for the front of my Leon. I'm looking for low rolling resistance and longevity over performance and almost set now on Goodyear EfficientGrip. However I can't find any reference that will tell me the difference between EfficientGrip and EfficientGrip Performance. The Performance tyres get slightly better ratings for roll and wet braking but the name suggests they may wear quicker?

GY EFFICIENTGRIP ASY 91V
GY EFFIGRIP PERF FP 91V

I can even get the Performance ever so slightly cheaper:

Yeah tried there. There was only info for Efficientgrip and Efficientgrip SUV. Even Goodyear's Web site doesn't explain.

I have efficient grip and they are very good! Done 15 k on them, nice and quiet on the motorway and good grip in all conditions including snow.

OK, wrote to Goodyear and got a very prompt response.

The Efficientgrip in many sizes already has and will be relaced by the Efficientgrip Performance

Worth knowing, considering the Efficientgrip scores C and C for rolling resistance and wet grip respectively, whereas the Performance scores B and A. Should save me a few pennies and keep me safe in the wet.

I've now ordered a pair of the Performance through the AA Web site for £139 fully fitted though the work will be done at a National garage. Scandalously the National Web site are charging £212.55 for the standard Efficientgrip and the Performance aren't even listed (makes me slightly worried though I'll double check what they install).

We have Goodyear Efficiency Performance 17" on our Ibiza, very good tyres, quiet and grip well - but very expensive and had to get hold of if you need one in a hurry.

Have to say the service at National was quick and efficient. The difference in noise and ride actually seems noticeable but I'll have to drive it on a few surfaces to be sure. I'll keep an eye on the fuel consumption too.

some of the tyre shopping sites are owned by National Tyres and they will use a different supplier that gives them a bigger discount, i found this out when i ordered 2 of the efficient grips for my old mans toyota and they were fitted by national tyres
