I've got a Powerflow system on mine Mike and from what I could see of the tiny pic on my screen, your backbox looks very similar size to mine!

I just have the back box, no centre section.... I'll try to find some vids of how loud it is. Obviously it'll be different on a petrol, but just as an idea!

If it is too loud you could always get a local exhaust company to add another silencer to it.

what exhaust is it then?

Powerflow cat-back with no middle silencer and a tiny rear one.... should be intersting! Picked it up for peanuts...

Thanks mate! I will look at those vids now. The backbox looks very small so it could be load, not sure yet. Came off a 20VT like mine so will be a straight swap....

2.5" I think. Might be loud, will have to see (not got it yet!) when its on the car. If it is too loud can get another silencer put in the middle section. As I keep saying, it was sooooooo cheap it was rude not to go for it!



I was also wondering: What effect would it have removing the centre silencer on the standard exhaust, and has anyone done it?

Removing a centre silencer....hmm...well, on my old car I had a straight thru centre, made no performance increase just louder, had to put a small silencer in when I got a 4-1 manifold, was far too loud, but again, made no major difference apart from sound. Not sure how it will affect a 20VT tho?

It will be interesting to get members thoughts on custom exhausts. I am looking into setting up a custom exhaust section of P-Torque where we will offer full custom systems, including 100 and 200 cell sports cats

Will, if this does get off the ground I know of a load of the mk4 guy's trying to get a tip like mine (RS4 style 6x4). Thats would be great if you could offer that.

I know it won't affect performance, just a little extra noise would be good!
My mates Mini Cooper S (new shape) has a lovely exhaust note as standard and really pops and burbles nicely.

Exhaust is here!

Just a quick picture taken at NoRice (Guildford) this month. Pretty bad, but my camera is FUBAR'd...

On another note, my ebay bargain Powerflow exhaust arrived today (4" round tip). Will visit ChromePete at his work tomorrow afternoon and see what he thinks of it. Initially it looks spot on!

What do you lot think about me painting the tip black to match my grey/black colour scheme?

I also dont think painting it black will do any justice at all, and I half imagine the paint coming off and looking even worse! I'd maybe be tempted to go for a different tailpipe if you get a centre box put in too....

I like it... but it would look very odd! I am planning on painting the brakes and the rear ARB the same colour in the new year!
