Afternoon All,

Just thought I would share some info on a new tyre I tried out on the review of a friend...

Got 2 Fronts of these Toyo T1-R tyres and I have only praise from what I have seen\felt etc...

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/tyres-2/toyo-t1-r-tyre

Got mine at £112 for a pair with P&P which is cheap but as my friend has a 320bhp old school Volvo who uses these on track days and road use and does not have any issues...

Had them on about 2 months now in hot and wet weather, planted it at every moment to test grip and it just pulled no squealing or traction light which on my previous tyres (budget) was pretty much every time... I haven't had the chance to try out the Eagles or P Zeros etc from the high end so I am unable to compare the two but I don't see what I would gain from paying much more cash when this tyre holds it's own...

I am hoping as these are quite soft compound they last me a year with swapping fronts and backs but time will tell...

Great Tyre in my opinion :)

Cue criticism....... Now....

Had some on my old Mk4 Ibiza, pretty good tyres, did wear quickly though.

Not had any on my Mk2 Leon so I'm not sure what they are like on this car but I think you'll be happy enough, especially with the price.

I'm trying to remember if they were any good in the wet or not, from memory I think they were alright.

I had one set of tyres that were bloody dangerous in wet conditions, think it was the Yoko Parada Spec 2's

very poor tire, in dry and scary in the wet plus the wear is ridiculous. similar tire to the falken fk 452's.

I haven't seen any scarey moments in the wet... Maybe 200 ponies isn't enough to give them a good seeing to but when I've planted the power down all I've had is grip....

My old Racing Puma went through a pair of these in 5000 miles, shocking wet grip too. But my mate with an FTO swears by them.

From memory the grip was ok, nothing special but certainly not dangerous. Very soft though, i think mine only lasted about 5k miles too. Super soft sidewalls aswell if i remember correctly. Certainly better than Linglongs and other ditch finders.

I will always maintain that the "same tyre" will behave differently on different cars, so many things come into play, weight, tyre dimensions, the type of driver etc......

It's impossible imo to say that one type of tyre (Toyo Proxes in this case) is the better than another because there are so many possible reasons why one on a Leon would act differently to say one on a Megane or a Range Rover.

Totally agree, I used to work with tyres and I'm unfortunate to have these all round on my cupra at the moment. Bloody scary in the wet and always have the traction control flashing in fourth in the wet. Can't wait to get rid!

Got a set of 4 sat in the shed, can't wait to get them fitted now! If anyone is after a set of 4 there are 4 x 235/35/19's for sale in the for sale section. I know the guy selling them and he's a top bloke.

The asr light in my first mk4 golf used to light up in the dry with the toyo's on before i removed them for a set of the falken's which aqua planed at 45 mph and sent me into the central reservation on the a500. (scary).

At the end of the day it all goes down to personal preference

Everyone on here bums the good year assy 2 tyres and I don't think they're that good. 100% better than the p zeros it had on before, but I'm not blown away by them

Personal preference, driving style, and previous driver/tyre experiences are all key factors here. Generally (with the exception of a few) you get what you pay for with tyres.

Exactly mate

I think someone who tuns late in corners will have a totally different opinion of someone who takes the outside and then cuts in tighter
