i'm planing a trip across europe from 12 december until 27 of december.in my plans is to visit the uk also for 6 days!i'v never been to the uk before so if you would be kind enough to help me with some queries!?!1)is it worth taking 1 or 2 days out of london and visiting edinburgh and loch ness?am i going to have problems with the weather this time of the year there? 2)how dangerous is for a left hand drive car to move around in uk?i'm a good driver but... 3)are winter tyres mandatory in uk and in europe if you know? 4)is it difficult to find economy hotels in london with safe parking for my car?do you recommend any? thank you all!!!:):)

1) I would take 2 days mate. 2) Its not dangerous for left hand drive cars, there are alot of polish left hand drive cars here. 3) Winter tires are not mandatory, you just need enough tread, 1.6mm minimum. 4) You should have no problems finding economy hotels.

I hope you have a good trip my friend

Yeah, I would go Scotland, too. It'd be fun. London is good. So what other countries are you going to? And where's your first stop? Wouldn't it be easier to start from the furthest point and work your way toward home? Just wondering. The trip across Europe sounds awesome, though. I'd love to do it, but it'd cost **** loads in petrol, especially in an FR or Cupra.

If you come to Scotland, let us know and we might manage to muster some of the lads to go for a tour through the Highlands with you!

Just looking at the map, that is one heck of a trip!

Look to spend 12 hours (inc stops) to get to Inverness from the South of England by the way!

maybe tie it in when there is a Seat meet going on, such as the Kent meet.

If you want econmy hotels in london with parking you'd have to be quite far out of the centre!

thank you all for your time!! :) 1)the plan so far is bari-como(1 night),como-bruge 1,bruge-london 4,london-edinburgh 2,edinburgh-paris 3,paris-aosta 1,aosta-ancona!!it will become final next week.2)is it worth it staying outside the center?how about the metro?wouldn't it be helpfull even though we would stay far from center?3)the cost is really high, imagine that only getting to italy and back from rhodes,me my wife and the car we paid 1200 euros  !!the total amount will be more than 6000 euros for 15 days but i'm really looking forward to it!!:D :D !!

2) If you mean london, Dont even think about staying in the centre with your car. The is nowhere to park, unless you want to pay £30-40 a day. Plus you will be constantly stuck in traffic, so either leave the car in a airport carpark like heathrow, or find a hotel on the outskirts and get the Underground train into the centre. Public transport is really good in london.

Edinburgh-Paris

Wow that's a long day

Stay outside London and use Tube (Metro)and trains inside London, personally I'd stay somewhere West of London (Hammersmith, Chiswick area) but that's just my preference

I wouldn't bother with London at all mate. Only smile there is Ken Livingstones when you approach. Everyone else just barges past you or is looking at the ground. :censored::censored::censored:

I'd hitch straight through the Lake District taking in somewhere like York / Chester. Otherwise you can pop up the M40 to Stratford-Upon-Avon to see some proper history. You have the Eden Project which is fantastic. All the above could be planned quite easily, apart from the Eden i guess which is a little out of your way

You will want a couple of days to do Edinburgh and the Lakes in Scotland mate well worth it

What?? and miss out on one of the worlds gretest cities and stupendous amount of tourist attractions.
I live in london and dont like it that much, but its by far the best tourist place in UK, and probably even europe!!!

Whats the attraction to a european tourist in the lake district? Im not having a go, im just not aware!

In order of distance to central london: it would be:
3) and 2) nearest
4)
1) furthest

no.1 isnt near a undergorund station either

no.2 is five/ten minute walk to underground station

no.3 is right next to underground station

no.4 is ten minute walk from undergorund station.

no. 3 and 4 are fairly near A40 so easy to get out of london via the A40.

I stopped at the Novotel Waterloo a couple of years ago. I seem to remember that it was a clean and comfortable hotel and quite well placed - just a few miunutes walk from the Houses of Parliament, Trafalger Square etc.

Its probably the best placed of all those hotels for sightseeing etc but it is inside the Congestion Charge Zone so you'll need to pay a few extra pounds for the pleasure of driving there.

I've stayed in this hotel before (aug 07), quite nice, rooms are a bit dated and could do with a re-furb.

They do have a car park though - some of the spaces are quite big too, cost about £30 to park there though.
