Hi all,
I own a 2009/59 registration Seat Leon FR 2.0 Tsi with 11,120 miles on the clock.
Back in april when I was pulling into a space to let another car through a narrow street, I heard a what can be described as a clanging noise comming from the front of the car. At first I thought maybe there was something on the road, so got out to check. I didn't find anything.
I looked around the car, at the brakes, wheels etc and couldn't see anything amiss. I thought maybe a stone had kicked up and was rattling around inside the wheel which had then dislodged itself, so I thought no more of it.
Lately when on full lock or turning tightly I can heard a grinding noise comming from the front wheels. Almost as if the tyres are rubbing somewhere. The rest of the time, the steering is fine with no unusal noises.
Last night, dropping a mate home, had to make a tight right turn into his street. When I did this I got a clanging noise again as if a piece of metal had got trapped under the car. Parked up and checked the car over, couldn't see anything amiss again.
Car drove fine afterwards but on tight turns the grinding noise is still there.
I have been reading and researching on this forum about the possibility of problems with the CV joints. I'm not very mechanically minded so wouldn't know if this is indeed the issue with my car?
I was looking for anyone who has any advice or ideas about what could be the problem with my car to give me an idea? If its not the CV joint, is there anything else that it could be?
If it helps, the car is on its original tyres, Bridgestone Potenza RE050's 245/45/17 Y. Car is totally standard.
If this was a problem with the CV Joints, would this be covered by the SEAT warranty?
Any help or advice is as always much appreciated.
Thanks
