grooved discs

alright guys i was wonderin my gilfriend dad just fitted grooved discs to his hyundai f2 and he aint sure if he has put the discs on the right way would u be able to tell me which way they go on

depends on the manufacturer
if non directional venting then usually grooves lean backward to the direction of travel.

some competition rotors with directional venting, can have forward leaning grooves tho (like AP rotors)
 
I was under the impression it was user preference which way grooved discs were fitted?

with the grooves leaning forward to the direction of rotation (ie cutting into the pad if you imagine it that way) gave better cooling and braking but came with the a whirring noise on hard braking and ate through pads quicker.

Having the grooves leaning backwards just meant your pads would last longer and although the grooves still aid cooling it wouldn't be as pronounced as if they were fitted the opposite way.


Saying that the Mintex C-tech discs I bought last time specifically told me to fit them with the grooves aiming forward.
