GUIDE - How to install footwell lights!

Hey Phil, going to do this now tomorrow. One question, how does the door pillar trim come off? Any screws or is it just clips? Dont fancy breaking them lol

just pull them off..they are held on with clips..and you wont break them..

im a general diy guy so have a lot of tools and studied electrical engineering for 2 years. have all manner of insulated pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters pliers and the like. i dont plan on using connector blocks. think id get a better connection stripping the wires,solder them and then heat shrink them before insulating them. was mainly just getting the panel off stoppinng me. i may just consult elsawin to check thanks for the help though

Thanks for the help guys. Got them fitted there now. Overall just took a little more than half an hour from start to finish. Absolutely love the look but in future may change them to red leds if I can get a close match to the original lights. May even wire off my footwell lights and install puddle lights in the mirrors as Si. has done

Well worth the investment. Even a basic one could be got for about ten or fifteen quid. Makes everything so much tidier

A few years back, the threads [THREAD=107554]HERE[/THREAD] and [THREAD=88225]HERE[/THREAD] enabled me to fit a boot light using SEAT parts by taking a live feed from the interior light and switched earth from the boot catch loom.

Whilst I was at it, I put a light in the glovebox too using the thread [THREAD=110282]HERE[/THREAD]

Jus done this and remembered phillpotts has got a different interior light to us i wired mine to the brown black and then directly to the board on the interior light the shiny terminal close to the plug its the actual bit the bulb sits against

The wiring is the same on both lights mate? I used to have that original light but it doesn't affect the guide as I use the wiring behind the a pillar and that's part of the factory loom which is untouched when the lights changed.

This is great guide, although how to install one that fades to red (car's illumination) when doom light is off and goes white when doom light is on?

Got to say I like the foot wel lights but scotch locks are a very bad idea I have seen a few fires in cars and trucks caused by these I'd say get Srink cable connectors would be a better safer bet

Anybody tried this on a Leon?. Are the harness' that run up the A post the same? Really like this idea but unless they are exactly the same I doubt my skills would carry me through
It's a 57 plate FR if that helps.

Took the easy option and booked it in to a local installer to do it for me. I'll try and get some pictures up on Friday. Not sure whether to have an LED strip fitted or just a single LED bulb. Just need a bit of ambient light and nothing too overpowering.
