H&R Spings Questions...

OK I will be very soon putting 18" wheels on my car, and yhinking ahead of time i imagine i will have to lower the car to make it look right. I have read quite a lot of posts and the H&R springs seem to be the new favourite.

What I would like to know, is what exact springs kit I should get, could someone give me the correct codes or link to the item.

Should I get just springs or a kit? How much of a price difference? What could be added later?

How much should I get charged to get them fitted and alignment etc. done?

Thanks, I just afford to start ordering the wrong kit, this is all new to me.

So does £177 delivered sound about right or does anyone know where to get them cheaper?

Really interested in what people are getting charged to get these fitted. :)

I'm getting my car serviced at Star on Monday so I'll ask about springs while I'm there. I had just about convinced myself to get it done with Eibachs for about £122 plus fitting which I though might make it about £200. £347 for just lowering with springs seems a bit ott.

Need to do some real research on what springs I'll use but having looked about the recent posts here H&Rs seem to be the fave choice.

I was wondering who I would trust to get the car lowered but looking at stars site again and the equipment they use it would definitely be there I get it done.

I'll let you know what I find out.

Also struggling to find decent links/prices of H&Rs.. Is the FR suspension the same as the Reference Sport/Stylance etc?

I know that but I'm Scottish, if it ain't free its a rip off ;)

But it's one of those things where fitting springs is really a good way to lower for minimum coinage, Once the price is around £350 for total cost you start to think well should I get a full kit. Then you add the cost of fitting onto the kit price and you think I can't afford it.. It's a vicious circle.

Just had a look and StarPerformance are in Kirkcaldy which is the wrong side of Scotland for me. Can anyone suggest somewhere in or near Glasgow?

Wrong side of scotland mannie? I'm 150 miles north of Kirlkaldy, The money I save going to them and the peace of mind in the work they do is worth the travel ;)

The cost i save on a service pays the petrol and lets me get the car dyno'd each time.

Have a read of their site about the wheel alignment service.. if you want to drive away with confidence that the jobs done right they are the guys to do it.
Star Performance use the Beissbarth Microline 4-Wheel Alignment System as Beissbarth are one of the world's most respected companies in this field.

Spoke to Jim while I was at star performance and he suggested that really dampers and springs are the way to go as just springs may produce some unwanted bounce, So now I'm thinking i should really just get the dampers as well because like you XE i cant afford to experiment and add extra fitting costs etc, it has to be right first time and has to give me confidence.

Fitting costs for suspension is around £180 mark which includes labour and the alignment. Star performance are aiming to have a new alignment system in place in the near future so sounds even more promising.

The other alternative is a few bags of blue circle cement but even I'm not that tight!
