Since I did Castle Combe last weekend on my last session I had the handbrake/brake fluid light come on..... I have checked the handbrake switch, even disconected it! And the brake fluid is on max.

Anything else it can be? Would plug in my VAG Com but you got to love DTA Management because I can't use VAG Com no more :(

From the yellow top or open the lid and play about with it? Will have another go tomorrow when I go back with my parents place so wire up my bruv cd player (some chav cut all the cables).

That light doesn't warn you of anything else does it?

Managed to get the VAG Com is read to address 03 which is ABS Brakes and that's about all it reads to now hehe.

Address 03 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 1J0 907 379 H
Component: ABS/EDS 20 IE CAN 0001
Coding: 16416
Shop #: WSC 11111
3 Faults Found:
00290 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Left (G46)
04-10 - Mechanical Malfunction - Intermittent
00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Right (G44)
04-10 - Mechanical Malfunction - Intermittent
00668 - Supply Voltage Terminal 30
16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications - Intermittent

Did clear but the light is still on, not going to bother to fix it untill I change the rear brakes, I hate the ABS and since fitting the brembo's only twice it worked and the second time was out on track and almost caused me to crash.

Is there a fuse to disable the ABS? Flapper? :D

Hmm MOT failure time me thinks dave...... The abs light needs to come on and go off again. But the handbrake light isn't the abs light i didnt think. So probably the fluid level warning switch. Disconnect the wiring that goes to the cap and see if it goes off.

It isnt the handbrake light its a warning light.
Its on because your brakes are not performing correctly or thats what the car thinks.
There is a seperate ABS light but is there a bulb in it ?
Do the back brakes lock up when you brake harsh ?
Also doesnt the ABS module control brake balance.

Just replace the sensors you tight git only cost me 13 quid each from my local motor factors

Brakes tested fine on the MOT.... love the figures the brembo's bring up lol...... Disconnected the sesnors you said Mike as I said in the post :)

Body.... me buy factor bits, you're having a laugh and my the looks on the VAG Com I'm thinking it could be that spoigt (sp) on the rear brakes thats the problem, not removing the discs untill I need to and the brakes are perfect. Been playing about with the car quite a bit today :D

Why pay dealer prices ?
If you started to use the motor factors a bit more you might have some money to get yourself a new expansion tank :p

If you go to the right factor too they can get you OEM parts anyway they might not have the vw/audi badge on them but are made by the same people, you just have to do your research.

Because I'm not a tight arse and have more than enough money to burn!

Always get dealer parts or uprated bits!

brake fluid is fine, even bleed it just in cause and only use 5.1 fluid! :D

Phill thanks, didn't want to say it to sound big headed or anything. But what I always say "buy cheap, buy twice"

Ive already read his thread did a long time ago.
I agree buy cheap buy twice but when it comes to parts like ABS Sensors dealer price £70 quid+
Motor Factors £13 !
So i bet my five sensors i could buy out last your one.

Not going to get into a silly arguement about who's sensor is going to last longer! Pointless!

Had this with mine even when I'd ripped the last traces of the ABS system from the car including loom sensors and any evidence that it existed. Never managed to fix it and in the end pulled the bulb out.

Looking at the VAG com I think it could be the relay or fuse related as 30 is the main supply.
Some ideas to try:
-Check the continuity of the brown earth cable going to the handbrake switch - terminates on a shell earth in the rear loom. With ignition on you should have +12v when on and 0v when released at the bulb terminator on the instrument panel (pins 18&11)
-If the fluid reservoir switch (F34) is normally closed - short the 2 pins together and see if this cures it, simply disconnecting it won't make any difference.. If it's normally closed then disconnecting will turn the light out.
-The ambient temperature heat sensor and link to MFA share the same circuit and wires downstream of the handbrake and fluid level switch on the instrument panel but before the warning bulb for both ABS and handbrake on/off- maybe this is it as a real outside shot?

I've been trying to sort mine for ages but am none the wiser.

I was wondering if the fluid reservoir switch was N/O or N/C when I removed it, thanks for that! Will have a good look on the weekend now as I'm back in work tomorrow :(

If the ambient temperature heat sensor and link to MFA share the same circuit then it could be a short somewhere behind the clocks then from Saxon Motorsport wiring in the DTA management but didn't have it before and only showed up after my last session at Combe so will rule that one out for now.

I removed the switches but haven't tested them as the old man took of with the multi meter to work on his mates car [:@]

If I come across anything in relation to your will let you know, I have Autodata on the laptop so will look through the wiring diagrams one day.

Thanks fella!
