Hi guys.

Have just returned from Cardiff (8hr round-trip) after a visit to Pro-Speed.

Hey, it was a long way, but we all need a road-trip every now and again!

Now there are those of you who might consider the 400-odd mile trip to get an exhaust fitted a little excessive, but the fact that I have spent 2 hours sat in near-stationary traffic around Birmingham and still consider that I have had a good day should give you a clue as to there this is going (if the title didn't).

I needed a new cat, centre section and backbox as the original OEM-type ones were shagged. For not a lot more money (ok well a little) Charlie at Pro-Speed has fitted a custom-made system in 2 1/4" stainless with a sports cat.

My requirements were pretty simple - I wanted something to improve mid-range torque, but that was not completely over the top.

After leaving the car in their excellent care for 5 hours, they've made me exactly what I asked for. Mid-range torque seems much improved (difficult to be 100% objective, particularly as the old cat and centre section resembled a tetley tea bag) and whilst you could conservatively describe the engine note as 'sporty' when under acceleration, under neutral throttle, the exhaust is barely audible. It also pops and rattles nicely when decelerating.

The care and attention to detail shown by the guys at Pro-Speed was really heartening. Charlie even called me to check whether I'd got home safely and what I thought of his handiwork - what more needs to be said?

Oh yeah, thanks to dave cymru for pointing me in their direction!

Glad you're happy, but from personal experience I'd never get an exhaust fitted from someone that far away. Odds have always been it'll need adjusting, and you'll have to take it back, I had this with Predator, it became a joke in the end, double figures I went back I reckon. But if yours holds out, you've had a result ;)

p.s - pics

By any chance did you say I recommended you? Because I'm having my TSR Manifold fitted down there on Wednesday and I'm gonna try and get some discount ;)

@ACH - check your PMs

@Smithy - yeah, I hear you and it was a slight concern, but it had a 4hour epic on the way home and aside from a tiny rattle when v. hot when going uphill (which is probably easilly adjusted). I'm not going to tempt fate by saying that I won't have any issues with it, but prior to leaving the workshop it did get a pretty good workout and, as i say, Charlie seems pretty meticulous about doing the job right first time - so fingers crossed :) Will try to get some pics up soon.

@dave cymru - of course mate. He mentioned that you were going over to get your new manifold fitted. Will be interested to hear how it goes (the fitting and the car afterwards)

Tidy cheers mate, I have to work on him I think now lol

What type of tailpipe did you go for?

Good luck :)

I went for a simple 3" slashed - looks like most other modern VAG group exhausts - doesn't sound like one tho ;)
