Head bolt torque settings

Ive just done the head gasket on my mk1 leon cupra r amk, the sheet that came with the gasket says 40nm then 2x 90 degree turns i just dont think thats enough tprque. Does anyone know what sets they are and how many stages i should go up in. I do know the sequence. Cheers
