Hi Everyone,

Ive just bought my first Leon FR, great car. I was after one originally with a sat-nav touch head unit but couldn't find one. Is there any decent after market ones you recommend? Want to spend around £250-300 give or take.

Please let me know

Thanks

Dave

Android 4.4 vw unit. Fitted this easily myself, it's a direct fit for VW/Seat headunits.
Paid about £260 on ebay and it's been awesome. Literally does everything you could want from a headunit as it's essentially an android tablet. Apps, nav, usb, microsd blaa de blaa...

read the above thread then cheif before taking the plunge with a 510 as there are a few things with having a pre facelift car that you need to be aware of

if after reading thst thread you dont want to go for a 510, but want to retain the OEM look, then I think the rns 315 will be ok, but im sure others will confirm

rns 315 adds nav & dab radio

Item: Seat Leon Altea Alhambra Toledo VW RNS 315 "D" DAB BLUETOOTH sat nav navigation

Matt with the one you've got can you still use the steering wheel controls with it?
Also do you need to have it connected to a hotspot from a phone etc to use Internet on it, for maps etc?

Does the sat nav and that still link with the mfd display? Thats the only thing putting me off upgrading

Yes mate, it needs to be coded in vagcom to tell the car it has a media unit installed.

The turn by turn guidance, track Id, radio station id all comes up on the mfd, also the climate control settings come up on the head unit screen when you turn it on/off, turn up/down the temp & change blower settings..

Yes mate it has the canbus box included so it works with the steering wheel controls and the mfd screen. The Bluetooth function links well with the phone button in the steering wheel.

If you wanted to have the Internet on all the time then yes, you would need to connect to a hotspot. You can do this using your phone , or you could plug a 3/4g modem usb into one of the USB ports. I only use the wifi when I'm on my drive or when I can sponge a Cloud connection lol. If desperate I would use my phones hotspot.

Mine came with a navigation card and app which is installed so nav runs from gps and doesn't require wifi. Google maps though, does always require a connection.

Ah cool thanks for your reply. Will definately be looking into this then as been looking about at the different head units. Not too keen on keeping it oem looking. I like the look of them when they look more like a tablet. Wanted something with DVD player and maps etc as I spend a lot of time sitting in the car outside of places so DVD player will get plenty of use.
