Low Flyer
Hi all,

I want to raise the headlamp beam manually to a higher level than factory. I find that in the 0 position the beam aims too low. And that's the highest position. I would rather have it a little higher, and put it in the I, II or III position to lower it. As it is now, the selector is totally useless. Because my suspension is so stiff that no matter what I put in the back, the beam will aim in axactly the same direction anyway:mad: .

So any of you know a way to manually adjust the motor 0 position to a higher angle?

Xander

There are 2 plastic screw which are used to manually adjust the headlight. Hard to explain, but the one for the height adjustment is on the inner side of the headlamp. If you follow the inner body panel (the one that holds the front grill, radiator, etc) you'll find a small hole about where the headlamp ends. The screw can be reached through this hole.

Sorry for the korny explanation, but that's the only way I can explain it.

Poulo.........

Do any plastic covers have to be removed in order to reach the screw?
There are two covers on the inside of each headlamp unit in the engine bay. You usually remove them to change light bulbs etc etc...
To these have to be removed? Also is the hole on the side where the turn signal is (toward car edge) or where the Radiator fan is (toward center of the car) ?

Also the Xenon conversion for your car. Is it true Xenon?
If it is, can you remember what the part number is for the conversion you have?

Muito obrigado

Same here Xander i suffer from poor light at night on 0 position
any other position makes it worse,at the highest level
i can berely see past 5 meters, will try the fix tonight.

Me too...........

Yeah, me too. reminds me of the days when candles were lit in the wee days of automobile travel.:helpp: !

Let me know how you managed tomorrow. I have to overnight in Trinidad&Tobago tonight, but I still have the chance to adjust it.
Be sure to find the hole before it turns dark:hammer:

I'll let you know how it turned out.

Found the screws

Ozzy, I found the screws. Standing in front of the engine looking straight down on either headlamp unit. There are a few holes. The two extrme holes have screwheads when looking straight through.
That's them. Now if I could only know which is which.

Xander

Just had a look now and couldnt see any holes
the only two screws are the one's holding the whole unit
and have a plastic on them with a picture of a low beam
indicating something about 1.2%.
anyway they hold the unit and not much around them
are the holes on the actual unit??
and if i do find any ,what should i stick inside??:D
TIA

Hmmmmmm..........

If only my digital cam worked.

The subframe that has the headlamps, the radiator and the radiator fan mounted on it has the holes. As soon as you pop the hood, look at the headlamps. From where you stand you can see part of the lens, at the top you see the top part of the lens, and just behind that last clear plastic part there's one last piece of black plastic before you see the sheetmetal subframe (in the colour of your car). There's where the two holes are. Also if you still can't find the screws, just look right at the back of the headlamp unit in the engine bay. You see a black plastic cover held in place by two springs. On either side of this cover you'll see a white toothed wheel of some sot with a screw mounted on it. That's what you need (I think :dunno: )

I'm gonna do it tonight. Tell you how it went.

The conversion is true XENON from Autolamps. It's quite good and easy to install. I will get some shots as soon as I can get a friend of mine to lend me his Leon (and digital camera) for some comparison pics. The link for the conversion is below:

And if you don't want Xenon conversion (I'd like a Leon specific one, not a general use one), try some Philips Vision Plus H7 & H1 headlamps, they make real improvement.
