Heated Rear Window Slow to Demist

I've just had my Leon a week now and its only six months old. Still learning about all the bells and whistles it has which is good fun :D

Anyway I've noticed that the heated rear window doesn't clear at all well. Its very slow to make any visible sign of working and then takes ages to fully clear, infact I'm not sure it has fully cleared before the 20 minute timer on the switch has knocked off. The circuit isn't broken anywhere and it does appear to clear evenly around each element but just so slow. I was actually sat at some traffic lights behind a '61' plate Golf and watched the rear window clear whilst the four-way traffic lights changed to green! Mine had hardly made an impression.

Is this normal on a Seat? I've no previous experience so grateful for anyone's comments.

The rear wiper works, haven't tried the wash and the boot carpet is dry.

Would that affect the heat rear window?

No, haven't cleaned it. It was supposed to have a valet before I picked the car up last weekend but don't think it came anywhere near even a wipe over!

Will definately try a clean, could well be the problem. What do you suggest is the best cleaner to use without damaging the elements please?

Well if the wash/wipe didn't work I would have guessed that your boot open switch may be at fault and if the washer was leaking inside it would make condensation on the rear screen that would be hard for the demister to remove.

Autoglym fast glass is pretty good, but I also use Mr Muscle window & glass, it's great stuff as the vinegar in it cuts through all the greasy film, works best applied and removed with paper towels I've found.
