HELP - Alarm gone crazy

Hi,

So today I went to my car, pressed the OPEN button on the key, and nothing, tried again - nothing.

This has happened before when key battery died, so usually I simply turn key in drivers door to unlock.

This time, door unlocked but alarm went off.

Usually you can simply stop the alarm with one press of the OPEN button on the key, but this had zero affect.

So, the alarm kept going off for like 30 seconds, then stopped, but everytime you do anything, it goes off again for 30 seconds.

Weirdly, the immobiliser is fine, as it lets you lock and unlock the drivers side (not central locking of all doors) and it lets you START the engine...

The key battery is Duracell and only few months old.

Any ideas what is wrong?

I'm sure I read you can disable the alarm via the radio unit - but not got all my manuals to hand...

Does anyone have a link to the radio manual online?

The reason I want to know how to disable, is if it just keeps going off, as it will soon run the battery down, but for hours first it will annoy everyone in the street!

Something I did notice a while ago, is that you can disable the motion sensors inside the car via the little button near the drivers door, but on my car this doesn't seem to work - weird.

Any help much appreciated...

See if you can plug it in to VCDS to find any faults. Sounds really odd though!
In the mean time, get some duct tape and cover up the sensors ;)

What state is your main battery in? If it's losing charge it can interfere with the central locking mechanism and it gets confused, setting off the alarm. Same thing can happen when you start it up.
