Hi peeps just picked up a little Ibiza 1.4s mpi on a 2001 plate, I bought it with a problem thinking easy fix as a little run around. Trouble is it won't rev above 2000rpm flat to the floor that's all I get. I have no warning lights on so ran my VagCom through it and the main issue is misfire coming up in live data, I've checked the usual suspects, plugs and top of inlet but nothing seems suspect, the chap I bought it off said he's just had a rear engine mount fitted and since it's had this problem so I also checked around that area for damage but nothing?

Any clues??

TIA

If it helps at all, here's my VagCom report:

Just replaced the distributer coil pack thingy and still the same, anyone have any ideas?

check the wiring to all sensors from the ecu which should have a 5 volt supply and earth

Many thanks I'll run through them, I have 2 exhaust sensors I'm guessing them aswell?

If this makes any sense, when it revs is does so freely upto 2000rpm then misfires and will not rev any higher???

Thanks I've changed the ignition distributer pack (thing the plug leads plug in to) is there anything else that supplies this that could give me problems?

No coil packs just leads that plug in to a hefty distributer, thanks

Thanks guys yes changed leads but not transformer, probably worth a try :)

Had my head under the bonnet today and there's no centre lead just a bunch of wires... ???

Yes... You don't have a distributor, its one coil pack with 4 ht leads and a plug connection? About 6 wires?

Check the wiring leading to the coil unit and if it is all fine... Replace the unit?

Yes thats the one, I've tried to trace the wires and I think they go into a little black box between the battery and headlamp, seems an arse to get at but worth a go

Cheers guys, tried the 4 wires out of distributer and they only go into a loom, did a bit of digging around and the transformer is apparently part of the coil pack? Checked the wiring on sensors and seem ok maybe need to test resistance, there are also 2 o2 sensors, one on the exhaust manifold and one just after the downpipe...??
