Help? Cigarette lighter not working

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum so sorry if this is a repost but I've searched and can't find anything. Anyway, just bought my 2005 fr tdi and the cigarette lighter isn't working, I checked the fuse and as I suspected the fuse was blown, I replaced the fuse but its still not working. Any advice/help/ideas? Is there any other fuses connected to the cigarette lighter? Or is it something more serious like a wiring problem? Thanks in advance.

Fuse 41 is solely for the lighter, the lighter itself maybe faulty?

That's what I thought, thanks for you help. Is it a big job to change the socket then?

The socket is built into the ashtray, and that is easily removed open the ashtray remove the torx bolt and the whole ashtray comes out

See if the fuse blows when the ashtray is removed

Il get my multimeter on the connecting wires see if its getting power.

Ive had a faulty lighter before

The complete unit for my old octavia was only like £13 from skoda so if its busted a genuine new one wont break the bank

Il do a test on it to check its the lighter and not the wiring, then as you say will probably be a trip to stealers

Only just got round to doing this... Got it out, the ashtray and unit but how do I get the actual lighter socket out? Thanks
