Hey I had my engine management light/excess pollution light come on yesterday so went and got it scanned...turned out to be the coolant temp sensor.

i didn't realse a faulty temp sensor could trigger the excess pollution light.

I had bother with the temp sensor warning light coming on in recent weeks. i cleaned the two prongs in the coolant bottle and the temp warning light stopped comng on. I've also replaced two faulty coolant temp sensors in a year so was confident it was poor quality parts so northing to worry about.

then a couple of days ago my excess pollution light came on. it's not flashing though (it says in the manual it should).

i'm hopeful having just read your post that it is just yet another faulty temp sensor that has caused this light to come on - car is driving fine. caned it tonight with no ill effects!

yeh sounds like coolant sensor as it same symptons I had, I think the light only flashes for the coil packs.

make sure you get a green coolant sensor from the dealer, as they are the better ones.

hope you get it sorted mate

sensor tells ecu what temperature the engine is so it can decide when and how to fuel the car from cold especially

similar to a choke on old cars but instead of limiting air the ecu does the opposite by adding fuel until its warmed up

if its faulty and causes the ecu overfuel all the time it will cause the diagnostic to register excess pollution
