hi people i just picked up my seat leon tfsi sport 185bhp turbo:) 44k miles on clock no mods at all..

got it from south hampton Seat........................

car drives great very quick and smooth.

Unti i pull up at a set of traffic lights . Then it sounds really tap tap tap tap tap from the engine.

so i check the oil and that is fine and so are all the other levvels...
car seems fine but sounds very unhealthey.

why is it making this funny noise ????????
car seem s fine to drive no fault codes at the moment?

but on the air intake on the grill i notice the lid had come off and fallen it to battery tray so i have clipped it back on! seems ok now.

BUT what About this tap tap tap from the engine????/[:@]

I had the same problem today with my FR T-FSi petrol the eml appeared and started to run very lumpy misfiring so i took it down to the garage as soon as i reached there out the blue all smoke started to appear and come out the bonnet so i turned it off straight away, we opened the bonnet to find the coilpack burnt on the 1st cylinder so i had it replaced and now the car does not start i am screwing at the mo, i think your car might require a oil change but not to sure mate?

The most tickety noise is the injectors ticking away , these engines are very noisy , its actually embarrassing sometimes at traffic lights when you park up next to a quieter car.

the head uses hydraulic cam lifters or followers , tappetts are used more on old style cars like fords of the eighties.

Hmmmm intrestint read took it into exter seat today! They had alook and said it's alot noisey than they fort! They checked the oil and said it was black and had a funny smell to it!

Then came the punch line..!!!

You can't drive it! We need to do a little more investergation!
But they need seat southhampton to say go head and fix it first!

I asked for my money back the hole idea of buying a used seat was to have peace & mind & not the bloody worry that some thing would go wrong one hundred miles down the road!

I'm so peeeded off!!!!! Had the tfsi 16hrs before some thing went wrong!

And now I'm car less 8k less in the bank!!!

On the other hand what's the worse case sonarero ! Say the prevoius owner had let it run real low on oil????? Just a fort warrenty new engine? Or engine rebuild?

Hey before you got in the Car or even decide to buy it did you ask them to do a service or aleast an Oil Change for you? When I traded my car in for the TFSi this is what they offered me. Btw TSI engine (1.4) and TFSI (2.0) Virtually sounds the same..almost like a derv but not quite..

It Sounds like SEAT just took your money and thats it...It's there thought and also dangerous.

(I would personally try and get your money back).

tappets, lifters hydraulic or old fashioned springs what ever you want to call them can still go wrong, i had a stuck tappet on my Corsa VXR which made a right racket.

And as for knowning what one looks like funny old thing is all the vehicles at work, land rovers, DAF's, and all the gucci amphibious vehicles all have old fashioned tappets so yeah i have a pretty good idea what a tappet looks like cheers!

was only a suggestion as when there not working properly they make a very loud tapping noise pretty much like he described!

i bet i know how peeded off you are :headhurt:
but i am sorry to say the pain is only just starting for you.
the best thing for you to do if not done already is walk away get a full refund and look for another car.
If you want to vent anger at SEAT by all means do so but dont expect anything back except an apology.
i wish i had done that with the pile of crap i drive around in at the moment.
its better you found out now and not further down the line after you had spent thousands modifying your car and making it your own.

Well I look at this way now I have calmed down!

I will wait to see what seat say in the morning ! I want them to take the head of the engine and check for damage?! At this point there are still no fault codes! If it's just a sticking cam lifter or something straight forward I will have the car back! & get them to exstend the warrenty!

If it's big problems they can have it back!

At the end of the day apert from the ticking the car drove like a dream so I'm thinking now it can't be that mager can it???

Right go there in the end!!

Heard from seat today! They said there had been oil pump failure resulting in the big ends going on the engine!! Seat Southampton gave me a refund for the full amount before I asked!

Tfsi has now been returned and I'm 8 k better off in the bank! Now all I got to do is look f
or another tfsi!! Lol

so the moral of the story is! if your tfsi ticks or knocks louder that a tdi fr! You got big problems!
