Well this a new one on me, so I had the check engine lamp come on the code was P0068, now I could have cleared the code with my code reader but I decided to re-cycle the ignion a few times to see if that would clear it and after 7 times the warning had gone, it stayed off for a couple of days but came back on so I tried it again and cleared the warning but again it returned after a couple of days.
So into the local Cupra dealer it went and they soon found the fault, now I recently had my VZN serviced by a different dealer but the same company they should have used 0w 30 oil but used 5w 30 oil instead telling me they are the same oil (no they are not) I complained to Cupra customer service and they came back with the same answer that 5w 30 oil was OK by VAG to use.
Now my local dealer said when my VZN was serviced (they could see on the service record it was a different dealer same company ) someone had spilt the oil at the filler and so they had cleaned the filler tube and filler cap of oil as apparently it was affecting a sensor (this is a new one on me) anyway the fault appears to have gone but I will have to keep my eye on it for a few days in case they have just cancelled the fault as I wouldn`t put it past them to do that!
I pointed out to the dealer service assistant about the fact 5w 30 oil had been used and he said they only used that on older vehicles on new vehicles they use 0w 30 as it improves petrol consumption in fact they had done the first service and had used 0w 30 oil!
Anyway can anyone confirm that the
Formentor engine oil filler and surrounding area if wet with oil can change the emission pressure I guess and light the check engine lamp as a fault!
As I said that is a new one on me but is it possible that it could be what has happened as apparently even a loose petrol filler cap can put the check engine light on!
Any offers!
